Job summary

CS E&I Engineering in Malaysia is seeking an Electrical Commissioning (Cx) Engineer for data centre projects. You will manage the full commissioning cycle from FAT through IST to ensure 100% uptime, safety compliance, and alignment with industry standards on critical power systems.

The role requires 3–5 years hands-on testing experience in data centres or mission-critical environments, familiarity with major OEM equipment, and strong knowledge of protection-relays, MV/LV switchgear, and LOTO

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years hands-on testing and commissioning experience in data centres or mission-critical environments.
• Direct experience with major OEM equipment (Schneider, Vertiv, Eaton, ABB, Caterpillar, Cummins).
• Knowledge of protection-relay testing and MV/LV switchgear commissioning.
• Understanding of data centre power topologies (N+1, 2N) and control systems (BMS/EPMS).
• CxA or CCP certification; ATD or ATP accreditation is desirable.
• Formal training in LOTO, arc-flash awareness, and site safety management.

Responsibilities

• Lead physical inspections, loop checks, and testing for MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS, STS, and high-capacity diesel generators.
• Plan, script, and execute site load-bank testing, blackouts, and complex failure-mode simulations.
• Review, execute, and sign off on commissioning scripts, method statements, and MOPs.
• Enforce LOTO protocols, arc-flash boundaries, and HV/LV switching programs.
• Document and resolve electrical defects coordinating with OEMs, contractors, and client teams.

Job description

Electrical Commissioning (Cx) Engineer - Data Centre

Managing the process from Level 1 (FAT) through to Level 5 (Integrated Systems Testing / IST), you will ensure 100% operational uptime, safety compliance, and alignment with hyperscale engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead physical inspections, loop checks, and testing sequences for MV/LV Switchgear, Power Transformers, UPS Systems, Static Transfer Switches (STS), and High-Capacity Diesel Generators
• Plan, script, and execute comprehensive site load-bank testing, blackouts, and complex failure-mode simulations
• Review, execute, and sign off on Commissioning Scripts, Method Statements, and Method of Procedures (MOPs)
• Enforce rigid Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, arc-flash boundaries, and high-voltage/low-voltage (HV/LV) switching programs
• Document, track, and resolve electrical defects by coordinating closely with major OEMs, contractors, and client engineering teams

About you

Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on testing and commissioning experience, explicitly within Data Centres, semiconductor plants, or equivalent mission-critical environments

Direct experience with major industry OEM equipment (e.g., Schneider, Vertiv, Eaton, ABB, Caterpillar, or Cummins)

Knowledge of protection-relay testing and MV/LV switchgear commissioning

Deep understanding of data centre power topologies (N+1, 2N) and control systems (BMS/EPMS)

Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) or Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP)

Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) or Professional (ATP)

Formal training in LOTO, arc-flash awareness, and site safety management
