Job description

Electrical & Automation Engineer based in Tapah

To ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of electrical, automation (PLC/SCADA), and instrumentation system through effective maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement, while supporting overall electrical and automation section performance.

DUTIES:

Plan, supervise, and execute electrical, automation, and instrumentation maintenance activities with Maintenance Manager and Planner.

Lead and support troubleshooting of plant equipment involving PLC (Allen Bradley). Instrumentation, and control systems.

Manage preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs to improve plant reliability and availability.

Take responsibility in supporting overall electrical section, including coordination of resources and improvement initiatives.

Participate in CAPEX and improvement projects involving automation, instrumentation, and electrical upgrades.

Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for electrical or automation breakdowns and implement corrective actions.

Support and monitor calibration of instruments, sensors, transmitters, and analyzers.

Ensure proper documentation of PLC programs, electrical drawings, and instrumentation configurations.

Supervise contractors or vendor for electrical and automation-related works to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Work closely with production, mechanical, and process teams on plant optimization and efficiency improvements.

Monitor energy usage and propose energy-saving initiatives.

Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.

Provide technical guidance and training to electricians and instrument technicians.

Perform any other duties assigned by Management.

To commit, comply, and conform to all company’s health, safety and environmental requirements, and other legal requirements.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

At least Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

At least 3 to 5 years relevant working experience related to electrical power and automation systems.

Heavy industry manufacturing background is a plus.

Technical Skills:

Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLC (mandatory).

Experience in instrumentation and control system.

Functional Skills:

Strong knowledge in (PLC programming & troubleshooting (Allen Bradley preferred), SCADA / HMI systems, instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level) and electrical power systems (LV/MV).

Ability to analyze complex technical issues and implement solutions.

Experience in maintenance planning and execution.

Hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and automation systems.

Knowledge of calibration, control loops, and process control.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Able to work independently and support after-hours or breakdown situations.
