Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a qualified EHS Officer to develop and maintain the EHS management system, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. You will manage environmental, occupational safety, and regulatory activities, and coordinate inspections with DOSH and authorities.

The role requires a diploma or higher, SHO qualification in Malaysia, 3+ years of EHS experience (electronics preferred), and knowledge of OSHA, EQA, FMA, plus ISO 14001/45001 standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in a relevant field with preference for Safety Eng, Environmental Science, OH&S, Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical Eng.
• Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) in Malaysia.
• 3+ years EHS experience, preferably in electronics industry.
• Familiar with OSHA 1994, EQA 1974, and FMA 1967.
• Proficient in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain EHS management system, policies, and procedures.
• Manage environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance including permits, audits, and inspections.
• Maintain EHS records such as inspection reports and MSDS/SDS.

• Develop and maintain the EHS management system, policies, procedures, and compliance documentation in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Manage environmental, occupational safety, and regulatory compliance, including permits, assessments, audits, and inspections.
• Maintain EHS records such as inspection reports, training records, hazardous waste logs, and chemical safety documentation (MSDS/SDS).
• Liaise with DOSH and relevant regulatory authorities and coordinate regulatory inspections and audits.
• Conduct safety training, employee safety awareness programmes, and emergency drills.
• Carry out regular workplace safety inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification to prevent accidents and unsafe conditions.
• Monitor compliance with PPE, machine guarding, fire safety, hazardous chemical storage, GHS, and CLASS requirements.
• Manage contractor and visitor safety, including safety briefings and work permit approval for high-risk activities such as hot work and working at height.

Job Requirements:

1. Generally requires a diploma or higher, with preferred majors including: Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering;

2. Possess the qualification of a Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) in Malaysia;

3. More than 3 years of EHS-related work experience, with experience in the electronics industry preferred;

4. Familiar with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1994 and its amendments, the Environmental Quality Act (EQA) 1974, and the Factories and Machinery Act (FMA) 1967;

5. Able to independently complete the preparation and submission of compliance documents such as environmental impact assessments, discharge permits,

6. Proficient in applying ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) standards.
