Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Safety Officer to develop and enforce OSH policies, ensuring regulatory compliance and a safe working environment for all staff, visitors, and contractors.

The role requires 2–5 years in safety, GreenBook DOSH registration preferred, and familiarity with relevant DOSH and ISO standards. You will lead safety inspections, incident investigations, ERP coordination, and safety committee activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 2–5 years of experience in safety role, regulatory compliance, EHS.
• GreenBook registration with DOSH is advantageous.
• Familiarity with DOE, DOSH guidelines & ISO9001/14001/45001 standards.
• Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Ensure highest safety compliance standards and healthy work setting for employees, visitors, vendors and contractors.
• Implement, monitor and enforce Permit-to-Work system for proper authorization and control of activities.
• Coordinate with management to prioritize safety across the organization.
• Coordinate with safety coordinators to ensure safe operation of machinery and proper PPE use.
• Supervise the safety committee and ensure policy compliance.
• Organize and coordinate safety committees and meetings.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities and equipment to identify hazards and risks.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
• Coordinate the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) including fire system, evacuation plans and drills.
• Monitor effectiveness of safety strategies and adjust as needed.
• Prepare and review safety performance reports and documentation per DOSH requirements.

• k) Coordinate the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) including developing fire system, evacuation plans and procedures including emergency drills (fire, chemical).
• l) Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety strategies, plans, HIRARC, safe work procedures and adjust as needed.
• m) Prepare and review safety performance monitoring reports, records and documentation in accordance with DOSH requirements and company policies.

QUALIFICATIONANDEXPERIENCE:

• a) A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & health, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
