Job summary

Flintex Consulting is seeking an EHS Officer for an electronics manufacturing site in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. You will manage safety and health practices on site in line with OSHA 1994 and applicable legislation.

You will conduct risk assessments, maintain ERP/First Aid, liaise with DOSH and auditors, and drive continuous safety improvements, ensuring contractors comply and promoting safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Handle and supervise all safety, including health awareness at site per OSHA 1994 Act 514, and related OSH legislation.
• Ensure all personnel comply with safety requirements, verbally or in writing.
• Implement procedures and practices as per company safety policy.
• Assist during internal/external audits by keeping site documents updated.
• Avoid corruption/bribery in management processes.
• Carry out tasks under OSHA 1997 regulations 18, 19 & 20.
• Assist in developing safety policies in compliance with OSH and FMA acts.
• Review latest legal compliance and inform Management Representative in writing.
• Attend internal and external auditor queries.
• Implement Safety Management System requirements and promote awareness.
• Identify hazards, assess risk and implement control measures (HIRAC).
• Ensure contractors, subcontractors, suppliers comply with Safety Management System and permit to work.
• Maintain ERP and First Aid information and distribute communication details.
• Review SMS to reflect changes in work situations and progress.
• Conduct site safety inspections and recommend corrective actions for unsafe acts/conditions.
• Submit Monthly Safety Report and Safety Statistics for DOSH.
• Compile and submit NADOOPOD, JKKP 8, Monthly Safety & Health Reports to stakeholders.
• Liaise with DOSH, Police and other agencies regarding health, safety and security matters.
• Build positive relationships with coworkers and stakeholders using good customer service principles.

1. To handle and/or supervise all safety, including health awareness at site in accordance to the Occupational Operational Safety and Health Act (OSHA 1994-Act 514), Factories and Machinery Act and any related updated of OSH legislation.

2. To take proactive steps to ensure all related personnel, including workers is complying with Safety requirement at site in either verbal advice or written notice.

3. To implement all procedures and practices as stipulated in the company’s policy including Safety.

4. To provide assistance for safety before & after; during internal/external’s audit by ensuring all related documents at site is updated from time to time.

5. To avoid Corruption/bribery in any management process.

6. Carry out tasks as contained in OSHA (Safety Health Officer) Regulation 1997 - Regulation 18,19 & 20.

7. To assist the Company in developing the safety policies in compliance with the OSH, FMA act its regulations and consistent with the vision and safety objectives of the Company.

8. To review and monitor latest legal and other compliance and to update accordingly & to inform Management Representative (MR) via written notification. Actively work with MR on compliance issues and prevention measures.

9. To attend internal and external auditor’s queries.

10. Responsible for implementing the requirements of the Safety Management System & promote a high level Safety Management System awareness.

11. Take pro-active measures to identify hazards, assess the risk and then implement suitable control measures to eliminate all dangers (HIRAC)

12. To ensure contractors and subcontractors, suppliers and vendors comply to the requirements of the Safety Management System which outlined their responsibilities and commitments. (Enforcement of permit to work requirement).

13. Maintain information on Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and First Aid facility and welfare to ensure the relevant communication information is distributed to the responsible party.

14. Review Safety Management System in order to introduce improvement and amendments as to reflect the changes work situation and progress at site.

15. To conduct site safety inspection and recommend corrective action for unsafe act of workers and rectification for unsafe condition in all workplaces by submitting written report to HQ.

16. To submit a Monthly Safety Report and Safety Statistic record for DOSH

17. Compile and submit NADOOPOD, JKKP 8, Monthly Safety &Health Report to relevant parties involved (Internal/External).

18. Liaise with the DOSH, Police and other relevant government agencies with regard to health, safety and security matters affecting workers.

19. Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, relevant stakeholders and the public using principles of good customer service.
