Job summary

Ferrotec Manufacturing Malaysia SDN. BHD. is seeking an experienced EHS Engineer to lead the HSE program at the Kedah facility.

You will implement and manage EHS systems, liaise with regulatory bodies, and drive risk assessments and audits across FTMM businesses. The role requires a bachelor-level qualification in engineering or EHS, 5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, and SHO licensure, with Mandarin proficiency seen as a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or diploma in engineering, environmental management, or EHS.
• Minimum 5 years EHS experience in manufacturing, construction, projects, or facilities.
• Licensed SHO with minimum 3 years practical experience.
• Experience dealing with MOH/DOSH/BOMBA and enforcement officers.
• Experience with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and EHS management systems.
• Experience with risk assessments (HIRARC/HAZOP/JSA) in manufacturing or construction.
• English communication; Mandarin an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support FTMM HSE system and initiatives and HSE workgroup.
• Establish and liaise HSE communications with authorities.
• Assist HSE Steering Committee and audit processes.
• Provide timely advice on HSE performance, trends, concerns.
• Promote HSE policy to employees and stakeholders.
• Respond to customer concerns regarding HSE.
• Manage risk assessments and HIRAC across FTMM BU.
• Conduct on-site inspections and safety reviews.

Job description

Main key person for all HSE related reference in FTMM

Integrating, implementing, and managing HSE system in FTMM

Initiate, implement and complete programs, projects and activities leading to improve HSE methods, process and engage employees to mitigate safety hazard within the plant facility premises.

Regulate, communicate, and liaise with government regulatory & enforcement department, local authority, and auditing agencies to ensure compliance of all regulatory compliances and audit requirement in accordance with comply to standard and requirement specified.

Specific Responsibilities:

Support FTMM HSE system/ program/ initiatives and HSE workgroup to meet local regulatory requirement, FTMM Cooperate HSE objectives and policy.

Establish and liaise all HSE aspect communication for internal and external channel with local authorities, DOE, DOSH, BOMBA, MOH, PERKESO, Local counsel and relevant enforcement agencies or body to ensure compliance when requirement and legislation.

Support FTMM HSE Steering Committee, HSE related audit inclusive customer audit, cooperate audit, local authorities, and insurance company audit.

Direct and timely advice and information in all matters related to HSE performance, compliance, trends, and concerns.

Promote HSE policy and values to all employees, stakeholder, and interest parties.

Responds to FTMM customer concerns and enquiries regarding HSE matters.

Support implementation/ proliferation plan for local HSE operation for all FTMM BU unit.

Manage record retention in compliance with FTMM and local regulatory requirements.

Support evaluates, assessment, update and implement HSE procedures to ensure compliance with FTMM and local regulatory requirements.

Support overall Risk Assessment, HIRAC and EAIA throughout all activities and process for all FTMM BU in accordance with internal and authority’s requirement.

Conduct risk assessment review, re-evaluation and propose recommendation accordingly when necessary.

Support to identify and assess any foreseeable risk arising from work processes and work (Risk & Opportunity). Recommend reasonably practicable measures and safe work procedure.

Support onsite ERT communication, training, evacuation, and drill.

Monthly/ Quarterly HSE review meeting with workgroup and all BU.

Conduct onsite routine/weekly and monthly inspection on regular basis as per determined.

Perform projects safety / Building safety/ Process safety / Layout safety buy-off review as per required.

Responsible for investigating and monitoring of injury, illness, and incident related performance and report to relevant authorities for timely closure.

Support development and implementation of strategic solutions that will improve the performance results as required.

Other duties as assigned by management team or company duty activities.

REQUIREMENTS / SKILLSET:

Minimum of Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Environmental Management or EHS related field

Minimum 5 years EHS working experience in manufacturing, construction, projects, or facilities maintenance related field.

Licensed SHO with minimum of 3 years of practical experience.

Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies (e.g. MOH/ DOSH/ BOMBA/ Council) and/ or compliance enforcement officers.

Experience in new factory start-up or production expansion projects will be an added advantage.

Experience and familiar in implementation of comprehensive OHSAS 18001, ISO45001, Health & Safety management systems, ISO14001 and Environmental Management System.

Experience with Hazard and risk assessments (HIRARC/ HAZOP/ JSA) in manufacturing or construction environment.

Experience in ERT, Fire Safety, Ergonomic, Machine Guarding, Industrial Hygiene, Process Hazard Management, Chemical/ gas safety management and Occupational Health.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to all levels in the organization and external agencies.

Verbal and written communication skill in Mandarin will be an added advantage.

Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.

Able to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to internal and external customer.

Able to present information effectively, response to sensitive issues efficiently, work closely with Global HSE team.

Able to take up new challenges, work under pressure to set and meet deadlines, manage multiple issue.

Righteous, independence and proactive in promoting safety awareness and policies.

Knowledge in Precision Machining manufacturing, ceramic fabrication plant is an added advantage.
