Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Solar Design Engineer to collaborate with design and project teams to prepare preliminary, shop, and as-built drawings for solar projects in Malaysia.

The role involves using CAD and Revit, creating 3D designs, and performing shading simulations with SketchUp and PVSyst. Strong analytical, communication, and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in solar system design.
• Proficiency in CAD software and design tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with Malaysia solar installation regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design and project departments to produce preliminary, shop, and as-built drawings.
• Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineers and architects.
• Utilize CAD and Revit for drawing preparation.
• Create and update civil and structural drawings.
• Support solar PV drawings.
• Work with design and project teams to generate BOM.
• Produce 3D designs and shading simulations using SketchUp and integrate with PVSyst.
• Collaborate with engineers to amend drawings as needed.
• Participate in site visits to collect essential data for drawings.
• Identify regulatory, quality, and project-standard compliance issues during design prep.
• Assist with ad-hoc assignments as required.

• Collaborate with the design and project departments to produce preliminary, shop, and as-built drawings.
• Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineers and architects.
• Utilize computer-aided design and drafting (CAD & Revit) software for drawing preparation.
• Create and update civil and structural drawings.
• To support solar PV drawings.

2) BILL OF MATERIALS (BOM)

• Work in conjunction with the design and project teams to generate comprehensive bill of materials (BOM).
• Ensure accuracy and completeness in BOM for procurement and project execution.

3) 3D DESIGN AND SHADING SIMULATION

• Support the production of 3D designs and shading simulations using SketchUp software.
• Integrate 3D designs into PVSyst software for comprehensive solar project planning.

4) COLLABORATION AND AMENDMENTS

• Collaborate with design and project engineers to make amendments to drawings as necessary.
• Support the design and project engineer in refining designs to meet project requirements.

5) SITE VISITS

• Participate in site visits with relevant departments to collect essential site information for drawing preparation.
• Collaborate with on-site teams to gather accurate data for design purposes.

6) QUALITY ASSURANCE

• Identify potential operational issues during the drawing preparation stage.
• Ensure final designs comply with regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.

7) AD-HOC

• Assist with ad-hoc assignments as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering, or with related working experience.
• Proven experience in solar system design or a related field, with knowledge of solar panel technology and installation practices.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and relevant design tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with local regulations and industry standards related to solar installations in Malaysia is a plus.
