Job summary

Harneys Group in Penang is seeking a motivated Paralegal to support our Dispute Resolution team across all stages of complex commercial and financial disputes. You will work closely with lawyers and contribute to high-quality results for our clients.

The ideal candidate has at least three years' paralegal or litigation support experience in a law firm or legal department, strong research and drafting skills, and proficiency with MS Office. Familiarity with iManage, 3E, and Intapp is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Paralegal diploma or equivalent essential.
• At least 3 years in paralegal or litigation support.
• Understanding of litigation and dispute procedures.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; formatting legal docs.
• Familiarity with iManage, 3E, Intapp is advantageous.
• Ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
• Discrete, professional approach and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Assist in dispute resolution matters from inception to resolution.
• Conduct legal research and summarise findings for supervising lawyer.
• Draft, review, and proofread court documents under supervision.
• Coordinate court filings and meet deadlines.
• Maintain hearing bundles, exhibits, and authorities.
• Liaise with Court Registry and opposing counsel.
• Manage case files and update the document management system.
• Monitor key dates, limitation periods, and deadlines.
• Assist with disclosure exercises, including document review.
• Support preparation of chronologies and trial materials.
• Conduct corporate and public registry searches as required.
• Assist with billing, time recording, and admin tasks.
