Job summary

Hunters International Sdn Bhd seeks a Director of Engineering to lead all technical operations, facilities management, and sustainability initiatives on-site in Kuala Lumpur. The role requires a strong background in hotels or large hospitality properties and a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering degree with relevant licenses.

You will manage M&E services, budgets, vendor contracts, and safety compliance, while directing and developing an engineering team to ensure uninterrupted guest experiences

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of engineering experience, preferably in hotels, resorts or large-scale hospitality properties.
• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering; licenses such as CFM, FMP are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Oversee hotel technical operations, maintenance schedules, and ensure safety and efficiency of equipment.
• Administer M&E services, supervise technicians, and plan major repairs and capital projects.
• Oversee energy audits, utility conservation, and liaise with locals on regulations and safety codes.
• Prepare and control annual departmental budgets, monitor replacement costs, and manage SLAs with contractors.
• Lead engineering team development, training, and emergency response readiness.
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve technical issues and maintain seamless operations.

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Director of Engineering to lead all technical operations, facilities management, and sustainability initiatives on-site in Kuala Lumpur.

• Work Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
• Work Mode: Fully on site
• Remunerations: Up to RM20,000

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Operations & Maintenance: Oversee hotel technical systems, facility inspections, and ensure preventive/corrective maintenance schedules, policies, and operating standards maximize equipment efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Property, M&E & Project Management: Administer M&E services, supervise specialized technicians, and plan major repairs, modifications, and capital improvement projects.
• Energy, Sustainability & Compliance: Oversee energy audits, utility conservation measures, and statutory liaison regarding local regulations, licensing, and safety codes.
• Budget, Vendors & Contracts: Prepare and control annual departmental budgets, monitor equipment replacement costs, and ensure term contractors meet agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
• Team Leadership & Safety: Direct and develop the engineering team, oversee career development and training, and ensure staff are fully prepared for emergency response situations (power failures, lift malfunctions, etc.).
• Guest Experience & Cross-Functional Support: Coordinate closely with other departments and leadership to resolve technical issues discreetly, handle associate matters, and maintain seamless, uninterrupted operations.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of engineering experience, with strong preference for background in hotels, resorts, or large-scale commercial hospitality properties.
• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (CFM, FMP, or local safety/engineering licenses are an advantage).
• Expert knowledge of local building codes, OSHA guidelines, health/safety regulations, and emergency response planning.
• Good command of Bahasa Malaysia and English, Mandarin is a plus.
  Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and BAS (Building Automation Systems).
• Strong capability in service level agreements (SLAs) negotiation, budget forecasting, vendor negotiation, project management, and asset lifecycle tracking.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-departmental coordination skills.
