Job summary

Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer responsible for maintaining hotel equipment to ensure minimal downtime. The role includes managing quality control, supervising staff training in safety protocols, and ensuring readiness for audits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of working experience as Duty Engineer; hotel experience would be an advantage.
• Ability to analyze any malfunction of all mechanical equipment used in the hotel.

About The Job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur / within the Engineering Department in Kuala Lumpur, the Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible to keep all equipment in good repair with a minimum of downtime by providing day‑to‑day maintenance of the hotel. The Assistant Chief Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer / Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the hotel is ready for any statutory and mandatory audits/inspections such as fire department, MOTAC, FLHSS.
• Attend statutory fire training and be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning fire and life safety.
• Delegate, create, prepare and implement the QC/QA plan and any associated directives and instructions needed to support the plan, developing and managing quality control and assurance procedures to ensure high quality results.
• Supervise, train and instruct colleagues in Food Safety & Hygiene and Occupational Health & Safety.
• In conjunction with the Training Manager, identify training needs of the department and ensure training plans are created and delivered.
• Plan, direct, control, coordinate and participate in all areas and activities of the department.
• Keep costs at a minimum while ensuring the hotel standards of service and cleanliness of the entire hotel are maintained.
