Job summary

Dyson seeks a Design Engineer in Malaysia to develop robust, manufacturable designs for consumer appliances. You will generate design concepts, perform tolerance analyses, and collaborate closely with manufacturing and cross-functional teams to ensure producibility and quality.

Prototyping, testing and continuous improvement are key aspects of the role. The position requires a engineering or science degree with at least 2 years in product design, strong CAD skills (Unigraphics preferred), and

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or science discipline required.
• At least 2 years in product design environment with plastics, tooling and tolerance analysis.
• DFMEA and PFMEA knowledge applied.
• Excellent English communication, both spoken and written.
• Experience in home appliance R&D and knowledge of product development processes.
• Strong 3D CAD skills, preferably Unigraphics, plus technical drawing.
• Knowledge of plastics materials and injection moulding.
• Understanding of prototyping, verification testing and quality control.
• Metal parts design and wire harness experience are desirable.
• Ability to hand-sketch ideas (2D/3D) and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong planning, prioritization and problem-solving abilities.
• Driven, confident, and ready to take on challenging projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop robust, manufacturable designs and design concepts.
• Plan tasks by risk, priority, and interdependencies; monitor progress.
• Create detailed design specifications, BOMs, and 3D models.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure producibility and quality.
• Conduct tolerance analyses and risk assessments.
• Support design reviews and change requests.
• Evaluate suppliers and drive cost-out opportunities.
• Prototype build and test to prove design feasibility.
