Job summary

BigHire is seeking a Deputy Site Engineering Manager to lead on-site engineering coordination for large-scale projects in Malaysia and Thailand. You will work closely with the China engineering management team and international design institutes to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with local standards.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 8+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency in English and Mandarin.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Ir.) with BEM is an advantage.
• 8+ years in engineering/project roles; 3–5 years in senior/engineering management.
• Experience in large-scale construction, EPC, industrial, energy, data centre, or infrastructure projects.
• Overseas/international project experience is a plus.
• Fluent English and Mandarin (written and spoken).
• Willing to be based in Kangar, Perlis, with travel to sites in Malaysia/Thailand.

Responsibilities

• Site engineering and on-site design coordination; resolve design deviations and construction clashes.
• Ensure local compliance with Malaysian and Thailand standards and regulations; identify risks.
• Participate in project and technical meetings; review contracts, specs, and blueprints to ensure alignment with standards.
• Lead multi-party technical discussions to bridge communication gaps between Chinese teams, overseas consultants, and local site teams.

**About the Role:**We are seeking an experienced **Deputy Site Engineering Manager (B Role)** to support the successful execution of high-profile, large-scale overseas engineering projects in **Malaysia and Thailand.**Acting as a vital technical link between our China Engineering Management Team, international design institutes, clients, consultants, and on-site construction teams, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth design coordination, rapid technical problem-solving, local compliance, and consistent project progress.**Key Responsibilities:*** **Site Engineering & Design Coordination:** Provide robust technical support and on-site design coordination. Review and resolve design deviations, technical conflicts, and construction mismatches. Coordinate closely with the China engineering management team and international design institutes (including S&L) to resolve cross-regional technical issues.* **Local Compliance & Risk Management:** Ensure all engineering and construction activities comply strictly with applicable Malaysian and Thailand standards, regulations, and statutory requirements. Proactively identify local compliance risks, missing regulatory requirements, and recommend early corrective actions to prevent project delays or budget overruns.* **Project Meetings & Contract Management:** Actively participate in weekly/monthly project and technical meetings to clarify technical requirements with clients and stakeholders. Review project contracts, technical specifications, and blueprints to guarantee that site engineering aligns perfectly with agreed contractual standards.* **Multi-Party Coordination & Problem Solving:** Organize and lead technical discussions to bridge communication gaps between Chinese engineering teams, overseas design consultants, and local site construction teams. Resolve difficult engineering roadblocks by coordinating practical, efficient on-site solutions.**Requirements & Qualifications:*** **Education:** Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Professional Engineer (Ir.) registration with BEM is a strong advantage.* **Experience:** Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering/project experience, with at least 3–5 years specifically in a senior engineering, project engineering, or engineering management position.* **Industry Background:** Strong background in large-scale construction, EPC, industrial, energy, data centre, or infrastructure projects is highly preferred. Overseas or international project experience is an added advantage.* **Technical Skills:** Deep understanding of complex engineering drawings, contracts, and technical specifications. Highly familiar with Malaysian construction standards and statutory regulatory frameworks.* **Language Skills:** Full professional proficiency in both English and Mandarin (written and spoken) is strictly required to facilitate clear communication between Chinese engineering teams and international clients/consultants.* **Mobility & Attributes:** Willing to be based in Kangar, Perlis, and flexible to travel to project sites across Malaysia and Thailand as required.
