Job summary

Intrepid Travel in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, is seeking a Deputy Operations Manager to work with the Operations Manager to deliver exceptional Intrepid trips across Malaysia. You will support Tour Leaders, manage daily trip operations, resolve on-the-ground challenges, and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring every journey meets Intrepid's standards.

You’ll be a trusted point of support for our Tour Leaders, helping them succeed through regular communication, coaching and operational

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in the travel industry.
• Experience managing travel operations, trip logistics or tourism-related services.
• Confidence managing operational disruptions in a calm, customer-focused manner.
• Experience building and maintaining strong supplier and stakeholder relationships.
• Excellent communication skills in English and local language.

Responsibilities

• Support Tour Leaders and manage daily trip operations to ensure smooth journeys.
• Resolve on-the-ground challenges and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Coach and provide operational guidance to Tour Leaders.
• Contribute to trip planning, new product development, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Support delivery of Intrepid Malaysia experiences with high standards.

As our Deputy Operations Manager, you'll work with the Operations Manager to deliver exceptional Intrepid trips across Malaysia. From supporting Tour Leaders and managing daily trip operations to resolving on-the-ground challenges and maintaining strong supplier relationships, you'll play a key role in ensuring every journey runs smoothly and meets Intrepid's standards.

You’ll be a trusted point of support for our Tour Leaders, helping them succeed through regular communication, coaching and operational guidance. You’ll also contribute to trip planning, new product development, and operational improvements, while working closely with teams across the business to create unforgettable experiences for our travellers.

This is a full-time permanent position, where you will be based in our office in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia (hybrid).

Some of the essential experience you’ll bring may include:

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in the travel industry.
• Previous experience managing travel operations, trip logistics or tourism-related services.
• Confidence managing operational disruptions and resolving issues in a calm, customer-focused manner.
• Good people leadership, coaching or training experience.
• Experience building and maintaining strong supplier and stakeholder relationships.
• Great organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills in English and local language.
