Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Database Developer/Designer to design and architect data solutions for our processing systems. You will translate business needs into robust database architectures, models and metadata, supporting application development and analytics.

The role requires deep SQL/No-SQL expertise, experience across PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB or DynamoDB, and a track record of 3+ years in database management and design.

Qualifications

• A solid Computer Science degree is compulsory.
• Master's degree is asset.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and No-SQL databases, ETL, replication, cloud services, and shell scripting.

A Database Developer/Designer is responsible for :

• Database design and architecture, data analysis, data modeling, data solutioning;
• Interpreting data requirements from business processes;
• Designing conceptual, logical and physical data models with corresponding metadata;
• Implementing necessary database tables to support application development;
• Maintaining, supporting, and troubleshooting existing databases;
• Driving best practices to guide development teams on database programming.

You will develop innovative solutions to complex business and technology problems, and recommend improvements to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

• A solid Computer Science degree is compulsory. A Master's degree in Computer Science and professional certifications in various database platforms would be an asset.
• A solid and wide-reaching foundation in programming and database structures as well as an in-depth understanding of different applicable business scenarios underlying your database design and solution proposals.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and No-SQL databases, ETL processes, replication, cloud database services and shell scripting on Linux and other modern technology platforms.
• Expertise in at least one of these database systems: PostgreSQL / SQL Server / MySQL / Redis / MongoDB / DynamoDB.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in managing databases, system integrations, and detailed knowledge of more than one database system are required.
• Experience with database design and architecture, database programming, database optimization and tuning, data analysis, data modeling, data integration, and data warehousing.
• Experience creating logical entities and defining their attributes as well as defining the relationships between the various data objects.
• A creative and analytical problem solver with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
