Alion is seeking a seasoned Data Architect to join our Engineering EZL team in Bengaluru. You will design robust, cloud-ready data architectures, mentor engineers, and collaborate with business and technology leaders to maximize data value.

Ideal candidates have 12+ years in database architecture, strong SQL, data modelling, and experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS), data pipelines, and security best practices. This full-time role demands leadership in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Engage with business and technology leaders to understand current operations and processes as a foundation for designing robust database architectures.
• Evaluate existing applications, identify areas of improvement, and propose alternative solutions.
• Leverage emerging technologies to ensure products are continuously positioned to maximise business value.
• Work collaboratively with software development teams and third-party vendors.
• Drive data pipeline architecture strategies by leading discussions with the business and the development teams.
• Perform design and code reviews for development teams.
• Monitor database performance statistics and recommend improvements.
• Mentor other database engineers in database design and optimisation.
• Participate in technology evaluation, prototyping, security, and internal audits.
• Effectively multitask between several different projects.
• Demonstrates a passion for producing quality solutions.
• Is adept at working in a collaborative environment within an Agile team.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of the SQL language, data modelling and database performance tuning.
• Experience designing and building large cloud-ready, highly scalable and distributed software.
• Understanding of relational, No-SQL and columnar structures.
• SQL Server 2019 and higher.
• Database optimization tools (i. e., SQL Compass, SolarWinds)
• Some experience in Google Cloud Platform: GKE, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, BigQuery and Looker would be an advantage.
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools (i. e., SSIS, Dataflow)
• Familiarity with reporting tools (i. e., SSRS, Looker)
• Strong understanding of modern information security design and best practices.
• Has at least 10 years of practical experience in database architecture and administration.
• Can interface with varied positions and levels of technical knowledge both within the department and with other departments inside and outside the company.
• Candidates should have a history of delivering high-performance, high-availability, efficient and scalable systems.
• Has experience architecting enterprise cloud-native data pipelines.
• Is familiar with both structured and unstructured data.
• Possesses a BTech/BE/MTech/MCA degree in computer science, information technology or equivalent.
• Has at least 12+ years of experience.
