Job summary

BAT in Selangor, Malaysia seeks a Data Security Engineer to lead data protection programs across the organization using Microsoft Purview. You will classify data, enforce standards, and collaborate with IT and business teams to strengthen governance and protection.

The role requires SC-401 expertise, PKC awareness, and broad cloud security knowledge including Microsoft 365, Azure and Entra ID, while driving PQC considerations and ongoing improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data security and data protection engineering.
• Good understanding of data protection, information governance, compliance frameworks, and experience with structured/unstructured data.
• Advanced Microsoft Purview expertise including DLP, Information Protection, Insider Risk Management, Data Lifecycle Management, DSPM, aligned with SC-401.

Responsibilities

• Compose, build, and maintain data security solutions using Microsoft Purview and other tools.
• Define and enforce data classification and protection standards.
• Implement and optimize configurations for Purview and data security tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to strengthen security posture.
• Monitor and improve data governance to ensure regulatory and internal compliance.
• Address emerging threats and technologies, including PQC, in data security strategies.
• Act as SME on Purview and maintain SC-401 aligned expertise.
• Apply engineering-side cybersecurity concepts to strengthen data protection controls.
