British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad (BATM) is recruiting a Data Security Engineer to define, implement, and manage data protection practices across the organization, with Microsoft Purview as the primary platform. The role collaborates with application teams to classify sensitive information and ensure policy compliance.

Required are 5+ years in data security, advanced Purview knowledge, and SC-401 certification; familiarity with GDPR/HIPAA/PCI-DSS is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data security and data protection engineering, with strong expertise in Microsoft Purview.
• Good understanding of data protection, information governance, compliance frameworks, and experience with structured and unstructured data.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and manage data protection practices across BAT using Microsoft Purview.
• Define and enforce data classification and protection standards.
• Configure and optimize Microsoft Purview and other data security tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to strengthen security posture.
• Monitor and improve data governance to ensure regulatory and internal compliance.
• Maintain deep expertise in Microsoft Purview aligned to SC-401 certification.
