Job summary

Setel Ventures is seeking a Data Engineer Intern in Malaysia to help scale our data infrastructure and build robust data pipelines. You will work with the Data Engineering team on ELT architectures, warehouse performance tuning, and batch/streaming pipelines for analytics and ML use cases.

You should be pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in a related quantitative field, with at least 4 months of internship experience starting in September 2026.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed bachelor’s degree in a related quantitative field.
• Minimum internship duration of 4 months starting September 2026.
• Strong problem solving and technical data/software engineering skills.
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server or MongoDB.
• Proficient in Python and SQL.
• Ability to handle confidential information and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Construct, test and maintain a production architecture for data pipelines.
• Automate and version control data workflows to improve team efficiency.
• Monitor and tune data pipelines for performance and quality.
• Identify improvements in data reliability, efficiency and quality through testing and observability.
• Assist with related tasks and projects as needed.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
