Job summary

STRATEQ GROUP (Strateq Sdn Bhd) is hiring a Senior Data Engineer in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. You will design, develop, and maintain data infrastructures and pipelines to support data-driven initiatives, ensuring governance and security across platforms.

The role requires strong ETL/ELT expertise, hands-on experience with SSIS, and proficiency in Python/Scala, SQL, and cloud-based data platforms. You will mentor juniors, interact with clients, and contribute to pre-sales efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Human Computer Interaction (HCI) or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex data model to accommodate data warehouse/ data lake/ enterprise data hub requirements.
• Design, develop, and maintain data models, data pipeline using data fabric/ETL tools.
• Ensure data governance and security practices are maintained according to organizational policies and regulations.
• Provide technical guidance to junior, ensuring knowledge transfer and continuity.
• Provide technical training to clients.
• Document processes, standards, and best practices.
• Participate in pre-sales activities.
• Provide ongoing support to clients, ensuring they can fully leverage the solutions provided.
• Commit to project timelines, deliverables effectively.
• Work closely with internal teams and project managers, to ensure solutions align with business objectives.
• Any other duties as requested by the Reporting Officer or HOD.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data infrastructure and pipelines to support the company's data-driven initiatives. What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Human Computer Interactive (HCI) or a related field.
• Must have 3+ years' experience in MS SSIS as ETL/ data pipeline development platform
• Good to have 5+ years of working in data warehouse project implementation or support and maintenance involvement.
• Min 3 years experience in ETL/ELT tools such as Talend, Databricks, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, EAI).
• Experience in scripting languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience in database and data warehousing using SQL, NoSQL, and RDBMS technologies such as MS SQL, Azure Cosmos DB, AWS DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, etc.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Amazon S3, Azure, Snowflake) is an added advantage.
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) is an added advantage.
• Experience in version control tools such as Github, etc.
• Experience with solution architecture draft/review.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, strong communication and collaboration skills.
