We are representing a regional hyperscale DC operator with strong appetite for growth, in seeking an experienced Data Centre Security Operations Manager to take ownership of security operations across a mission-critical data centre environment.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, this is a hands‑on leadership position responsible for ensuring the resilience, integrity and operational effectiveness of physical security and access‑control systems across multiple sites. The successful candidate will oversee everything from surveillance and biometric access systems to guard‑force management, incident response, security compliance and customer audits.
Operating within a 24/7 environment supporting hyperscale, enterprise and colocation customers, you will play a critical role in protecting facilities, infrastructure and operations while maintaining stringent security and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Physical Security & Access Control
- Take ownership of day‑to‑day physical security and access management across data centre facilities.
- Maintain 24/7 availability and reliability of security systems and ensure adherence to agreed SLAs.
- Maintain rigorous controls against unauthorised access and tailgating while ensuring appropriate surveillance coverage and recording retention.
- Set up, administer and support biometric systems, access badges, NVR storage and associated security platforms.
- Manage user access, role configurations, approval workflows and security‑system settings.
- Maintain security‑system asset inventories, configurations, camera‑recording backups and lifecycle management for cameras, NVRs, access‑control devices, servers and switches.
Security Systems & Infrastructure
- Oversee surveillance monitoring, door access‑control systems and other relevant security technologies.
- Manage the procurement, licensing, warranties and lifecycle of security‑system equipment.
- Drive system enhancements, maintenance and troubleshooting in partnership with vendors, consultants and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure appropriate preventative maintenance and operational readiness of critical security infrastructure.
Vendor & Guard Force Management
- Manage security vendors, hardware maintenance providers and guard‑force contracts according to site requirements.
- Establish and monitor vendor performance standards covering response times, resolution times and SLA adherence.
- Ensure robust change‑management and access‑control procedures are consistently followed.
- Coordinate security requirements with hyperscale, enterprise and carrier customers.
- Develop SOPs and technical work instructions to drive consistent execution across sites.
- Cross‑train and supervise L1 and L2 data centre engineers supporting remote/smart‑hands activities.
Security Compliance & Incident Management
- Implement and enforce security policies covering monitoring, detection and response.
- Lead responses to security incidents, including escalation, stakeholder communication and follow‑through.
- Maintain security logs and incident‑response procedures and conduct periodic reviews of system logs and user access.
- Conduct security inspections and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support ISO 27001, PCI‑DSS, SOC 2 and relevant local regulatory audits.
- Work closely with corporate compliance teams and coordinate with local authorities where required.
Governance, Reporting & Operational Leadership
- Prepare monthly security performance and risk reports covering incidents, uptime, SLA compliance and vendor/guard performance.
- Manage the security budget and contribute to CapEx and OpEx planning, sourcing and procurement.
- Support customer audits and technical due‑diligence activities.
- Plan and conduct security training for Data Centre Operations teams.
- Coach and mentor operations personnel on security procedures, standards and operational readiness.
Key Requirements
- You will bring a combination of data centre operational experience, technical security‑system knowledge and hands‑on leadership capability. You should be comfortable operating in a mission‑critical environment where security, availability, compliance and customer requirements intersect.
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of relevant data centre experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team‑lead capacity.
- Strong knowledge of physical security systems and infrastructure, including Lenel, IP‑based CCTV and access‑control systems.
- Familiarity with BMS, DCIM, ITSM tools, business applications and related systems.
- Working knowledge of ISO 27001, PCI‑DSS and SOC 2 controls.
- ITIL, PSP and/or CISSP certification is preferred.
- Readiness to operate within a 24/7 data centre environment and respond effectively in dynamic, high‑pressure situations.
- A reliable, process‑oriented approach with strong ownership and self‑starter mentality.
Why This Role
This is an opportunity to own a security function that sits at the heart of mission‑critical data centre operations. Rather than focusing solely on guarding or compliance, the position spans security technology, physical infrastructure, operations, vendors, customers, risk and governance.
For an experienced data centre security professional, it offers the opportunity to shape security standards, strengthen operational resilience and directly influence how critical facilities are protected and operated.
