Job summary

Private Advertiser seeks a capable leader to head the Design & Engineering department, overseeing shop, parts, and packaging drawings. You will ensure BOM accuracy and timely cutting lists, coordinating with production, project, procurement, and management teams.

Required are a Diploma in Production Management or related field, a sharp analytical mind, and at least 5 years in manufacturing or product design. R&D exposure and furniture industry experience are advantages for this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in D&E, manufacturing or product design.
• Analytical mindset and meticulous approach to documentation.
• Experience with R&D and drawings management is preferred.
• Renovation or furniture industry exposure is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Design & Engineering (D&E) department and oversee drawings for shop, parts, and packaging.
• Ensure accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) and cutting lists for materials and project delivery.
• Maintain information accuracy across all documentation and coordinate with production, project, procurement, and management.
• Set ambitious D&E goals and communicate to staff through motivation and guidance.
• Monitor staff performance and arrange interventions for improvement.
• Prepare and formulate shop drawings, parts drawings, and packaging drawings for all items.
• Ensure proper BOM and cutting lists are prepared within timeframes.
• Verify drawings are current, correctly circulated, and well organized.
• Update departments on alterations to drawings and designs; organize weekly progress meetings.

Job description

This role involves leading the Design & Engineering (D&E) department, overseeing the preparation and formulation of shop drawings, parts drawings, and packaging drawings for all items. You will ensure accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) and cutting lists are prepared within stipulated timeframes, manage information accuracy across all documentation, and coordinate between relevant departments including production, project, procurement, and management.

Key responsibilities

Set ambitious D&E goals and communicate to all D&E staff through motivation, support and guidance

Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement

Prepare and formulate shop drawings, parts drawings and packaging drawings for all items

Ensure accurate BOM is formulated for all fixtures within stipulated time frame for material preparation for purchase of material and project delivery

Ensure accurate cutting list is prepared for Machineries Department prior to production

Ensure all information in shop drawings, parts drawings, BOM and cutting list are tally

Ensure the right version of drawings are being circulated to all relevant departments

Ensure all drawings are well organized and safety kept in line with requirements in the NDA signed with our clients

Update all relevant departments for any alteration of information regarding drawings and designs

Organize weekly meetings with D&E staff to monitor work progress to ensure all assigned task are completed timely

About you

At least Diploma in Production Management or related fields

An analytical mind and meticulous nature

At least 5 years of relevant working experience with good exposure of manufacturing & product design & development

Competent and accurate in handling R&D

Experience in renovation or furniture industry is added advantage

Has great sense of urgency and able to handle multi tasks under pressure
