Job summary

Pantai Hospital Penang in Malaysia is seeking a warm, professional receptionist to welcome patients and relatives, answer phone lines, manage inquiries, and support appointment scheduling with courtesy.

You will assist with patient registration, filing, and bed management tasks, handle deposits and receipts, and support the Claims team when required. Fluency in English, Malay, and Mandarin is preferred; weekend and shift work may be required.

Job description

Act as a receptionist: warmly greet patients and relatives, offer assistance with a smile, courtesy and professionalism at all times.

Handle telephone calls, inquiries, appointments and messages with courtesy, tact and politeness at all times.

Attend to all clerical aspects to expedite patient registration, admission and discharge, including bed management tasks (e.g., checking Room and Board entitlement, booking of beds); maintain accurate records in individual patient files.

Register patients; maintain and update patient particulars in HIS where applicable.

Trace patient folders from the Medical Records Room and dispatch to the Emergency Unit or ward as required.

Collect deposits from patients or guarantors upon inpatient registration; collect balance payment upon discharge; issue receipts and remain accountable for all amounts collected.

Perform cashiering duties as and when required.

Assist the Claims team in Initial Guarantee Letter application submission and follow-up after office hours when required.

Assist the Claims Department in processing insurance forms after office hours, on weekends and on public holidays.

Perform other appropriate tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee's knowledge and abilities.

Understand and adhere to Pantai Hospital Penang policies and procedures.

Participate in Quality Improvement activities at department level.

Assist in the arrangement of Community Service projects and other projects conducted by the Hospital when required.

Undertake any other duties as delegated by the immediate superior.

Job Requirement

Proficient in customer service skills.

Possess at least SPM/ Diploma or equivalent qualification.

Minimum 1 year working experience in the related field is required for this position.

Candidates fluent in English, Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin preferred as role requires candidate to deal with Mandarin speaking clients

Excellent communication skills (written and oral).

Able to work 3 shift and able to commence immediately is an advantage.

Able to work on weekends and Public Holiday.
