Job summary

The Cost Controller Manager at Pestec International Berhad is responsible for monitoring project costs, schedules, cash flow, and overall performance across key projects in Malaysia. You will analyze variances, forecast financials, and recommend corrective actions to ensure profitability and compliance with company policies.

You'll interact with project teams, review weekly progress, and provide revenue, profit and cash flow projections for budgets and forecasts.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accountancy/Finance or ACCA with relevant project control exposure.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with accounting and project construction contracts is essential.

Responsibilities

About the role

The Cost Controller Manager is responsible for monitoring project costs, schedules, cash flow, and overall project performance. The role includes analyzing variances, identifying risks, preparing financial forecasts and reports, and recommending corrective actions to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and in compliance with company policies.

What you'll be doing

Interact with project team to evaluate project schedule progress, cost information, identification of variances from original plan and recommend corrective actions and creative solutions.

Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-around.

Review and update weekly schedule progress and present to Group COO and Project Manager for decision making.

Monitor milestones in billing and coordinate the ordering and tracking of project materials.

Highlight risks affecting project profit, costs, schedules and client relations.

Conduct analysis to determine alternative courses of action or recovery on slipped schedules.

Controls the project balance sheet, income statement and cash flows. Optimizes project cash flow and acts on reducing overdue with project manager.

Prepares revenue & profit and cashflow projection for budget and/or forecast purpose.

Prepares project reviews, participates in risk mitigation actions, initiating for project audits.

Ensure all the procedures is within company policy and compliance.

Other duties assigned by superior from time to time.

What we're looking for

Degree in Accountancy/Finance, ACCA, Engineering or equivalent, with minimum 6 years of project control experience.

Prior exposure to accounting and project construction contract is essential.

Strong analytical, organization and problem-solving skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience in SAGE300 and JD Edwards will be an added advantage.

Fast learner and able to work with minimum supervision.

Team player, positive and proactive attitudes.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.
