Job summary

Genesis Life Care runs in-house kitchens at every centre, preparing nutritious, resident-friendly meals under the supervision of a dietician — no outsourced catering. As a Cook, you'll be part of the team that keeps residents well-fed, healthy, and looking forward to mealtimes.

The role involves following dietician-approved menus, maintaining hygiene, coordinating with nursing staff on restrictions, and assisting with festive meals in a home-style institutional setting.

Qualifications

• Prior cooking experience in home, institutional, or F&B kitchens.
• Valid food handling certificate or willingness to obtain one before starting.
• Understanding of basic hygiene and food safety practices.
• Comfortable preparing Malaysian/Chinese/Indian home-style meals; texture-modified or dietary-restricted meals a strong plus.
• Able to work rotational shifts including some weekends.
• Malaysians and candidates with valid work authorisation welcome.

What you'll do:

• Prepare daily meals for residents following dietician-approved menus, including texture-modified and special diets (soft, minced, pureed, diabetic, low-sodium)
• Maintain kitchen hygiene, food safety, and stock rotation standards
• Coordinate with the nursing team on individual residents' dietary restrictions and allergies
• Help plan and prep for festive/special occasion meals for residents and families
• Keep kitchen equipment and inventory in good order

Requirements

• Prior cooking experience — home, institutional, or F&B kitchen background welcome
• Valid food handling certificate (Typhoid injection + food handler's course), or willing to obtain one before starting
• Understanding of basic hygiene and food safety practices
• Comfortable preparing Malaysian/Chinese/Indian home-style meals; experience with texture-modified or dietary-restricted meals a strong plus
• Able to work rotational shifts including some weekends
