Job summary

Trane Technologies seeks a field engineer to drive modernization of installed HVAC bases. You will visit client sites, identify aging controllers, and propose upgrades with cloud-connected solutions to enable AI-enabled energy services.

The role requires 3+ years in HVAC/building automation, strong communication, and willingness to travel. You will coordinate pricing, assist with proposals, and demonstrate cloud capabilities to clients.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical engineering.
• Min 3 years related experience in HVAC/building automation.
• Knowledge of IoT, Cloud, AI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits to existing customer facilities to audit their current control systems and HVAC assets.
• Identify digital gaps: outdated, obsolete, or non-cloud-capable controllers.
• Maintain a detailed database of installed base and tag sites as AI-Ready or retrofit-needed.
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals for Controller Upgrades and IoT Gateway installations.
• Explain the technical necessity of upgrades to Facility Managers/Clients/Consultants.
• Coordinate with fulfilment team to ensure accurate pricing for installation labour and cabling.
• Bridge between client’s technical team and our digital offerings.
• Demo the basic capabilities of the cloud platform.
• Follow up on service quotations to close retrofit projects.

Where is the work: On-Site (5 days). You will be responsible to drive the modernization of our installed base. In this role, you will be the visiting client sites to identify aging HVAC/BMS controllers and proposing control system upgrades and services contract opportunities. Your goal is to transition our clients from legacy offline systems to cloud-connected assets, laying the foundation for our AI-driven energy services.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits to existing customer facilities to audit their current control systems and HVAC assets.
• Identify "digital gaps": specific controllers that are outdated, obsolete, or incapable of cloud connectivity.
• Maintain a detailed database of the installed base, tagging sites that are "AI-Ready" vs. those requiring hardware retrofits.
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals for Controller Upgrades and IoT Gateway installations.
• Explain the technical necessity of these upgrades to Facility Managers/Clients/Consultants.
• Coordinate with the fulfilment team to ensure accurate pricing for installation labour and cabling.
• Act as the bridge between the client’s technical team and our advanced digital offerings.
• Demo the basic capabilities of the cloud platform.
• Follow up on service quotations to close small-to-medium retrofit projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical engineering or its equivalent.
• Min 3 years related experience in HVAC/ Building automation industry.
• Knowledge in how machines talk to the internet (IoT, Cloud, AI) will be an added advantage.
• Strong communication skills. Comfortable speaking with facility managers and technicians.
• Must possess a valid driving license and be willing to travel frequently to client sites.
