Job summary

SINOHYDRO CORPORATION (M) SDN BHD is seeking a Safety and Health Assistant to join our Kota Kinabalu team. You will support health, safety and environmental practices, implement policies, conduct inspections and work with our HSE team to minimise risks for our workforce.

Ideal candidates hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s in OH&S with NEBOSH or IOSH certification and 2–3 years’ experience in construction safety. English and Malay fluency is required; driving licence and travel to project sites are

Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
Valid certifications in health and safety such as NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on construction sites to identify hazards and non-compliance issues.
Assist in the development, implementation and review of health and safety policies and procedures.
Provide safety induction and training to workers on site, including toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, near-misses and safety observations.
Investigate workplace incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
Monitor the use of PPE and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Liaise with authorities and external safety agencies as required.
Assist in safety documentation, reports and statistics.
Support the development of emergency response and evacuation procedures.
Promote a positive safety culture and encourage worker participation in safety initiatives.
