Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking a Mid Level Clerk of Works to oversee daily site inspections and ensure contractor works comply with drawings, specs and programme. You will monitor progress, witness key on-site tests, maintain daily diaries and report discrepancies to project teams.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering, Building or related field, and a valid CIDB Green Card, with 1–2 years of supervisory site experience or 4–6 years as Clerk of Works.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Building, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Valid CIDB Construction Personnel Card (Green Card), or willing to obtain it upon employment.
• Minimum 1–2 years of site experience as a site supervisor, technician or assistant clerk of works, or minimum 4–6 years of hands-on site experience as Clerk of Works or Site Supervisor.
• Ability to read, interpret and work from architectural, civil and structural drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily coordination, inspection and monitoring of contractor and subcontractors' works to ensure compliance with drawings, specs and standards.
• Check setting out, levels, dimensions, alignment and formwork before proceeding; witness key stages like reinforcement, concrete pouring, piling, waterproofing and finishing works.
• Witness and record on-site testing and sampling (concrete tests, compaction, water/pressure tests) and verify results against specs.
• Inspect and verify materials delivered to site against approved samples and delivery orders; reject non-conforming material.
• Identify and report discrepancies between drawings, specs and contracts to Project Manager/consultants for clarification.
• Maintain a complete daily site diary recording manpower, plant, materials, weather, progress and instructions issued.
• Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly inspection and progress reports with dated photographic records.
• Monitor actual progress against the construction programme and report delays/risks.
• Attend site meetings and coordinate with teams; follow up on matters affecting site works.
• Support Site Safety Supervisor in enforcing site rules.
