Job summary

YTL Construction is seeking a Construction Manager (M&E) to lead the planning, coordination and execution of mechanical and electrical works on major projects in Malaysia. The role requires overseeing site activities, ensuring adherence to specifications, budget and schedule.

You will manage a team of engineers, consultants and subcontractors, coordinate with authorities, ensure safety and quality, and drive BIM/CAD workflows with MS Project or Primavera.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
• PMP certification.
• Minimum 10 years in infrastructure or building construction.
• Proven experience as Manager in M&E design and layout for large projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes and engineering design.

Responsibilities

• Manage overall M&E construction site planning, work programme, operation, activities and all related reports.
• Lead and coordinate consultants, builders and subcontractors on M&E works of the projects.
• Coordinate with local authorities regarding site permits or approvals.
• Monitor master and detailed work programmes to meet timelines.
• Oversee M&E progress, drawings, catalogues and sample approvals.
• Attend site meetings and coordinate with site staff and subcontractors to resolve issues.
• Review inspection schedules and complete checklists.
• Oversee subcontractors' interim claims.
• Ensure on-site work meets schedule while maintaining safety and quality.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental guidelines.
• Ensure designs comply with endorsed drawings and local authority requirements for CCC.
• Maintain records of project documents.
• Lead and guide site personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Construction Manager (M&E) is responsible for overall planning, management, coordination and execution of mechanical and electrical construction works. Ultimately, you will be managing the assigned projects by ensuring the adherence to the required specifications, budget goals and timeline.

• Manage overall M&E construction site planning, work programme, operation, activities and all related reports.
• Lead and coordinate consultants, builders and subcontractors on M&E works of the assigned projects.
• Coordinate with local authorities regarding site and construction related permit or approval.
• Provide input and monitor the master and detailed work programme in order to complete the project within timeline.
• Monitor M&E work progress, drawing status, catalogues and sample approval status.
• Participate in site meetings and coordinate with all site staff and subcontractors to resolve issues or site matters.
• Review inspection schedules and complete inspection checklists.
• Oversee and manage subcontractors' interim claims.
• Ensure a smooth progress and efficiency of the construction work by adhering to quality control policy, in accordance with specification standards and contractual obligations.
• Ensure on-site work is completed according to schedule in order for the site implementation team to function without compromising safety or quality.
• Ensure project comply with the standard safety, health and environmental guidelines as established by the authority.
• Ensure the sites implement the respective designs according to the endorsed design drawings.
• Ensure the building design is in compliance with all the local authority requirements and meeting the timeline to obtain the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC).
• Keep track record on all assigned project documents related to subject matter of scopes.
• Lead and provide guidance to the site personnel in carrying out their tasks.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior and/or the management.

Job Specification and Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other equivalent fields.
• Registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Minimum 10 years of working experience in infrastructure or building construction, or related fields.
• Proven experience as Manager specialising in construction management of M&E design and layout in big scale commercial and public building projects.
• Solid understanding of construction processes and engineering design principles.
• Working knowledge of CAD software, drawing programs, and modelling software.
• Well versed in BIM modeller or relevant software in regards to building and infrastructure design.
• Well versed in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or relevant software.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and issues arising at site or contractual matters.
