Job summary

Benchmark Electronics in Penang, Bayan Lepas, is seeking a Commodity Specialist to lead sourcing strategies for electronic components. • Knowledge of electronic components and supply chain management.
• Experience in sourcing, procurement, supplier management, or commodity management within an EMS or manufacturing environment.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.
• Monitor market trends, supply conditions, and pricing movements to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Identify, qualify, and develop global suppliers in partnership with Supplier Development Engineers (SDEs).
• Lead supplier negotiations on pricing, commercial terms, and service agreements.
• Manage supplier contracts, agreements, and VDP arrangements.
• Drive cost reduction and supply chain improvement initiatives through supplier development activities.
• Monitor PCN and ensure timely communication and action plans.
• Proactively manage supplier capacity to support manufacturing demand.
• Review supplier performance and participate in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).

Role Overview

As a Commodity Specialist, you will support the development and execution of sourcing strategies for assigned electronic component commodities. You will collaborate with global suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive cost competitiveness, ensure supply continuity, manage supplier performance, and support business growth across our manufacturing operations.

What You’ll Do

Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.

Monitor market trends, supply conditions, and pricing movements to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.

Identify, qualify, and develop global suppliers in partnership with Supplier Development Engineers (SDEs).

Lead supplier negotiations on pricing, commercial terms, and service agreements.

Manage supplier contracts, agreements, and VDP arrangements.

Drive cost reduction and supply chain improvement initiatives through supplier development activities.

Monitor Product Change Notifications (PCN) and ensure timely communication and action plans.

Proactively manage supplier capacity to support manufacturing demand.

What You’ll Need
