Job summary

Celestica in Penang seeks a Global Commodity Manager for Resistors & Fuses to own a strategic commodity portfolio, lead supplier negotiations, and drive cost optimization across global sites.

You will manage 250–300 suppliers, analyze pricing trends, implement IT tools, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure supply continuity and value creation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years in Commodity Management; electronics experience is a plus
• Ability to manage 250–300 suppliers
• Knowledge of market conditions for strategic commodities and pricing trends
• Working knowledge of global supply chain practices
• Experience with ERP and office applications
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines

Global Commodity Manager [Resistors & Fuses]

Location: Penang

Responsibilities

• Maintains global and/or regional responsibility for a strategic and/or high dollar commodity or group of commodities, for price/value determination, product and/or service negotiations, terms, and conditions.
• Develops and implements a procurement strategy for the commodities they manage including technology direction, supplier analysis, development and selection and pricing strategy.
• Acts as primary interface with Celestica’s suppliers for all relationship management, contract negotiation, establishing the business framework for transactions, performance reviews, business development and supplier awards programs.
• SOURCES all products and services, maintaining a continuity of supply, while delivering the lowest cost component or service solution.
• Provides global sites direction and performance reporting for cost analysis to senior management.
• Leads negotiations for commodities managed, providing guidance on negotiations strategy and negotiations planning, developing a commodity strategy, and presentations / communication of consistent message to suppliers.
• Has frequent interaction and negotiation with senior executives of industry leading multi-national companies.
• Manages the Global Commodity Negotiation process ensuring accurate forecasting and pricing accuracy.
• Manages data flow for pricing fluctuations in market and analytical tools including development and maintenance of Commodity Management systems applications.
• Conducts strategic analysis on pricing, the market, suppliers, customers, competitors, contracts and long-term agreements.
• May act as site liaison to manage critical shortage, develop strategies on constrained commodities and represent site to manage related systems changes that have broad effect on execution of purchasing responsibilities.
• Drives process improvement, leads development of IT tools for group, defines business processes and implements new tools/ processes.
• Performs bid activity for sensitive/highly visible complex bids.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5 years in Commodity Management. Experience in managing Electronics components an advantage.
• Ability to manage up to between 250 to 300 suppliers.
• Extensive knowledge of the marketplace conditions for a broad range of strategic commodities including industry pricing, technology and supply/demand trends.
• Working knowledge of global supply chain practices.
• Strong knowledge of basic computer applications and the ability to learn and use multiple applications specific to this function including ERP and office systems.
• Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Strong knowledge of negotiation practices/methodology for electronics commodities.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
• Ability to evaluate, prioritize and work a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
