Job summary

Mindteck in Port Dickson, Malaysia is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support engineering, commissioning, troubleshooting, and delivery of complex power and industrial projects. The role involves technical coordination with project teams, customers, suppliers, construction teams, and commissioning personnel.

You will read engineering drawings, develop delivery plans, and mentor junior engineers, with travel to project sites and extended hours as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience in engineering, commissioning, or project execution.
• Experience in power generation, renewable energy, substations, HV systems, switchgear, industrial, mining, rail, defence, or similar sectors.
• Experience preparing/reviewing commissioning test plans, procedures, and reports.
• Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documents.
• Experience with customers, suppliers, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Creo, MS Project, or similar tools is a plus.
• Strong communication, planning, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Willing to travel to project sites and work extended hours when required.
• Valid driving licence preferred.
• Strong technical and analytical skills.
• Good project planning and risk management abilities.
• Proactive and solutions-focused approach.
• Strong safety and quality awareness.
• Able to work independently and lead/mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and technical support from project planning through commissioning and handover.
• Plan and execute commissioning activities, including test plans, procedures, testing, energisation, troubleshooting, and reporting.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Develop engineering delivery plans, track deliverables, resources, schedules, and technical risks.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, customers, suppliers, contractors, and site teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Support technical reviews, inspections, testing, handover, and as-built documentation.
• Ensure engineering and commissioning activities meet project quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
• Maintain accurate engineering and commissioning documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Provide engineering and technical support from project planning through commissioning and handover.

Plan and execute commissioning activities, including test plans, procedures, testing, energisation, troubleshooting, and reporting.

Review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.

Develop engineering delivery plans, track deliverables, resources, schedules, and technical risks.

Identify and resolve technical issues during construction, testing, and commissioning.

Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, customers, suppliers, contractors, and site teams.

Requirements

Knowledge of HV systems, protection relays, switchgear, generators, or industrial automation is advantageous.
