Jora Malaysia seeks an experienced CNC Engineering Manager (Assembly Engineering) to own CNC‑machined and sheet‑metal parts from NPI to mass production. You will coordinate CNC processes, incoming quality, and tooling while bridging machining to downstream assembly.
Lead assembly process planning, jig/fixture design, and full process solutions. Drive NPI activities, RCAs and CAPAs, mentor engineers, and coordinate with design, production, quality, and suppliers on complex issues.
Jora Malaysia will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.
Take overall engineering ownership of CNC‑machined and sheet‑metal parts from New Product Introduction (NPI) to mass production. Coordinate CNC machining processes, incoming part quality and tooling, and bridge machining processes to downstream assembly operations.
Lead assembly process planning for sub‑assemblies and complete units: define assembly sequences, workstation layout, torque specifications and error‑proofing solutions. Design assembly jigs, fixtures and pressing tooling, and deliver full assembly process solutions.
Manage cross‑functional projects with design, CNC process, production, quality and supply‑chain teams. Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review, identify risks such as part interference, tolerance stack‑up and assembly difficulties at early stage.
Drive NPI activities, follow up CNC First Article Inspection (FAI), prototype build and pilot run. Organize problem reviews, drive corrective changes for machined parts and assembly processes, and ensure smooth hand‑over from pilot to mass production.
Resolve critical mass‑production engineering issues including dimensional non‑conformity, assembly interference, gap mismatch and functional failure. Lead Root‑Cause‑Analysis (RCA) and ensure closure of 8D / CAPA actions.
Manage a team of CNC and assembly engineers / technicians including task assignment, performance tracking, technical coaching and capability building. Establish internal engineering standards.
Develop full set of engineering documentation: assembly process sheets, Work Instructions (WI), BOM, assembly inspection standards and tooling drawings. Maintain revision control and standardize SOPs.
Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives to raise assembly yield, reduce cycle time, optimize machining tolerances and lower manufacturing cost. Optimize tooling to minimize rework.
Interface with customers and support customer audits, prepare engineering reports. Collaborate with SQE to improve quality and process of outsourced CNC components.
Monitor project milestones and risks; report engineering, pilot‑run and production‑quality status to plant management.
Job Requirements
Mandatory
Education: Diploma or above in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Mechatronic Engineering. Exceptional candidates with SPM plus extensive senior‑level technical experience will be considered.
Experience: Minimum 6‑8 years hands‑on experience covering precision CNC machining and assembly engineering, with at least 3years in supervisory / managerial role. Solid exposure to CNC milling, turning and sheet‑metal processes; proven track record leading full NPI‑to‑mass‑production cycles for automation, semiconductor or precision equipment assemblies.
Software: Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; able to interpret 3D models, 2D drawings and GD&T. Basic understanding of CAM software (NX / Mastercam) is preferred (deep programming skill is not required).
Process knowledge: Good understanding of machined metals (aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel); practical knowledge of assembly principles such as torque control, press‑fit and tolerance stack‑up; hands‑on knowledge of jig and fixture design.
Quality system: Familiar with NPI, FAI / PPAP, FMEA, SOP, 8D, RCA and CAPA; ISO9001 / IATF16949 knowledge is an advantage.
Soft Skills
Strong project‑management skills for multi‑project environment; good risk assessment and problem‑closure capability.
Excellent cross‑department coordination to align engineering, production, quality, procurement and suppliers for complex issue resolution.
Proven people‑management capability to lead, coach and develop engineers and technicians.
Willingness to support on‑site troubleshooting on production floor; able to work under pressure and accept overtime when necessary.
For Malaysia role: Business‑level English (written & spoken). Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia are preferred for local stakeholder communication.
Preferred Qualifications
Project experience in automation equipment, semiconductor equipment or medical‑device assemblies covering both machining and full assembly.
Practical experience in tolerance stack‑up analysis.
Experience reviewing and managing outsourced CNC suppliers.
Working knowledge of ERP / MES systems.
Basic knowledge of welding and surface‑finish treatments (anodizing, painting).
