Job summary

MVC Resources in Penang is seeking a Machining Production Manager to own the precision machining process ecosystem at a newly expanded facility. You will drive process engineering across CNC milling, turning, EDM cutting, and grinding, and establish SOPs and high-accuracy standards.

Responsibilities include shopfloor scheduling, preventive maintenance collaboration, and CI initiatives while mentoring programmers and operators, ensuring safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or Mechatronics.
  • 3–5+ years hands-on experience in precision machining process engineering and shopfloor production management.
  • Experience with CNC milling, turning, precision grinding, and multi-wire EDM cutting.
  • Strong GD&T knowledge and ISO 9001 quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead precision machining process design and optimization for CNC milling, turning, EDM cutting, and grinding.
  • Develop SOPs, process documentation, and tooling/fixture selection.
  • Oversee shopfloor scheduling, maintenance coordination, and yield improvement initiatives.
  • Coach CNC programmers and operators; ensure EHS compliance and continuous improvement.

They are seeking a highly technical, hands-on Machining Production Manager to build, optimize, and lead their precision machining process ecosystem.

Mission

The Machining Production Manager holds full operational and technical ownership over precision machining execution and process engineering across the Penang plant floor. Bridging NPI, process engineering, shopfloor production, and quality assurance, this role is responsible for establishing standard operating procedures (SOPs), optimizing CNC programming (milling, turning), multi-wire EDM cutting, and precision grinding workflows, while driving throughput, tool life efficiency, and strict yield performance.

Key Responsibilities & Activities
1. Precision Process Design, Optimization & CNC Engineering
  • Process Development: Design, formulate, and optimize high-precision machining process routes covering CNC milling, turning, multi-wire EDM cutting, and precision grinding operations.

  • Cycle & Tooling Analysis: Systematically analyze cycle times, cutting parameters, grinding wheel degradation, wire consumption, and machine OEE to eliminate production bottlenecks and reduce piece-part costs.

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Provide immediate, high-level technical resolution on the floor for complex machining or programming anomalies (such as G-code/M-code errors, wire breakage, chatter, or grinding surface finish defects).

  • Documentation & Standards: Author and maintain comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including Control Plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), fixture setup guides, and operator machine manuals.

2. Production Operations & Asset Reliability
  • Shopfloor Execution: Manage daily shopfloor scheduling and production workflows to meet client delivery deadlines while maintaining high process repeatability.

  • Preventive Maintenance: Partner with maintenance teams to establish and enforce rigorous preventive maintenance schedules across all CNC machines, wire cutting setups, and grinding units.

  • Yield & Waste Containment: Drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies to minimize material scrap and maximize overall plant operational productivity.

3. Quality Assurance, GD&T & NPI Validation
  • Tolerance & Quality Governance: Enforce strict adherence to micron-level dimensional tolerances, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications, and surface finish standards.

  • NPI & Trial Production: Direct technical feasibility studies, tooling/fixture selection, and trial production runs for new product introductions (NPI), validating process capabilities prior to full-scale mass production.

4. Technical Leadership & Workforce Coaching
  • Team Guidance: Mentor and upskill CNC programmers, machine operators, and junior process engineers on advanced machining logic, tool paths, defensive machine safety, and SOP execution.

  • EHS Compliance: Guarantee that all machining and wire-cutting operations strictly align with environmental, health, and industrial safety regulations.

Requirements
Education & Technical Expertise
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical discipline.

  • Hands-on Machining Mastery: 3 to 5+ years of active, hands‑on experience in precision machining process engineering and shopfloor production management. Direct exposure to multi-process operations—specifically CNC milling, turning, precision surface grinding, and multi-wire EDM cutting is required.

  • Software & Programming Competency: Proficient in G-code/M-code programming and hands‑on usage of CAD/CAM software platforms (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam) and machining simulation tools.

  • Quality & Tolerance Systems: Deep practical understanding of GD&T standards, precision measurement equipment, and quality assurance protocols (ISO 9001).

Language & Interpersonal Capabilities
  • Linguistic Proficiency: Professional fluency in both spoken and written Mandarin and English is required. Mandarin capability is mandatory to facilitate technical reporting, direct code reviews, and process alignment with regional executive leadership and global R&D engineering centers.

  • Analytical Problem‑Solving: Exceptional root‑cause analytical capability (5-Why, Fishbone) coupled with strong interpersonal skills to manage shopfloor technicians and lead cross‑functional reviews.
