Job summary

Connor Manufacturing Services (JB) Sdn Bhd in Kulai, Malaysia, is seeking a detail-oriented CMM Inspector / Metrology Technician to operate CMM equipment, program measurement routines, and verify that machined parts meet engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.

You will prepare dimensional reports, interpret drawings, and collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to address non-conformances, while maintaining calibration and records.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T standard symbols.
• Experience or familiarity with CMM programming software (PC-DMIS, CALYPSO, MCOSMOS, or equivalent).
• Proficient with traditional hand measuring instruments (Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Dial Indicators).

Its Malaysian operations provide hands-on exposure across stamping, tooling, assembly, packing, storage and delivery.

We are looking for a technician who responsible for operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform accurate dimensional inspections of machined parts and components. The role ensures that products meet engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, customer specifications, and quality standards.

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented CMM Inspector / Metrology Technician to join our Quality Control team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating CMM equipment, programming measurement routines, interpreting engineering drawings, and verifying that parts meet exact technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Testing:

Operate CMM equipment to conduct precise dimensional and geometric inspections.

Perform First Article Inspection (FAI), in-process, final, and outgoing quality checks.

Programming & Software:

Create, modify, and optimize CMM measurement programs using PC-DMIS, CALYPSO, MCOSMOS, or similar software.

Technical Blueprint Analysis:

Read and interpret engineering drawings, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and inspection specifications.

Data & Reporting:

Prepare accurate dimensional inspection reports and document measurement results.

Analyze measurement data to identify dimensional or geometric deviations.

Maintain CMM programs, inspection records, test results, and compliance documentation.

Quality & Engineering Support:

Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to investigate non-conformances and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

Work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering departments to resolve dimensional and measurement issues.

Equipment Maintenance & Calibration:

Perform daily equipment checks, basic maintenance, and calibration verification on CMM devices.

Ensure all hand tools and measuring instruments are maintained according to scheduled calibration cycles.

Compliance & General Duties:

Ensure all activities strictly comply with company procedures, safety requirements, and ISO/quality standards.

Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Requirements

Education: Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Metrology, Quality Assurance, or a related technical discipline.

Experience:

Prior experience operating CMM equipment in a manufacturing setting preferred. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

Background in precision machining, tooling, metalworking, or automotive/aerospace manufacturing is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

Strong working knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T standard symbols.

Familiarity with CMM programming software (PC-DMIS, CALYPSO, MCOSMOS, or equivalent).

Proficient with traditional hand measuring instruments (Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Dial Indicators).
