Farben Information Technology is seeking an experienced Azure cloud engineer to own OCR and intelligent document processing delivery for an enterprise insurance environment in Kuala Lumpur. You will translate business needs into scalable Azure-based solutions and provide first-line support for live services.
The role is fully onsite, five days a week, with after-hours deployments and scheduled maintenance windows.
Location: Kuala Lumpur (fully onsite)
Contract: 1 year, renewable
Salary: RM 9,000 to RM 10,800 per month
Experience: 5+ years
Reports to: Technical Manager
Farben Information Technology is an IT services and talent delivery company supporting enterprise clients across technology, finance, insurance, and telecommunications. Through our International Business Department we place specialist technology consultants with clients across Malaysia, the Philippines, and wider Asia.
This role is a consultant engagement. You would be contracted through Farben and deployed onsite to our client, a leading insurance organisation with operations across Asia, working within their technology team for the duration of the engagement.
Our client is a leading insurance organisation with operations across Asia, serving individual and corporate customers through a wide agency and partner network. Their technology function is investing in automation and AI to modernise core operational processes, with a current focus on document digitisation across claims, enrolment, and internal operations.
You would join a technology team working on internal platforms that support claims assessment, policy enrolment, and operational workflows, with several further OCR and automation initiatives planned.
You will own the delivery and support of OCR and intelligent document processing solutions on Microsoft Azure for an enterprise insurance environment. The platform digitises incoming documents such as hospital bills and enrolment forms, extracts itemised data into downstream systems, and feeds AI-assisted review workflows used by claims assessors.
This is a delivery and coordination role as much as a technical one. You will translate business requirements into solution designs, work with solution architects on infrastructure requirements, drive requests through to completion, and own first-line support for live services.
Gather and clarify business requirements for OCR and document digitisation initiatives, and represent those requirements to technical teams
Design OCR extraction solutions using Azure AI Document Intelligence and related Azure services, including model selection and extraction logic
Assess document volumes and translate them into infrastructure capacity and sizing requirements
Work with solution architects, project managers, and delivery teams on design, costing, and implementation
Prepare and submit infrastructure requests through the organisation's formal approval process, track them to completion, and verify deployed configurations
Provide first-line production support: analyse incidents, distinguish business or data errors from infrastructure failures, and elevate to second-line teams where required
Support monthly security patching cycles across non-production, UAT, SIT, and production environments
Participate in annual disaster recovery exercises
Provide solution recommendations, progress updates, and briefings to senior leadership
5+ years in Azure cloud engineering, solution engineering, or platform delivery
Hands-on experience with Azure AI Document Intelligence (Form Recognizer), Azure Functions, Blob Storage, Event Grid, Logic Apps, Key Vault, App Services, Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, and Azure DevOps
Understanding of Azure RBAC, encryption, secret management, and audit logging
REST API development, with proficiency in Python, C#, or .NET
Experience delivering OCR or intelligent document processing solutions in a production environment
Strong analytical skills for production issue triage
Ability to communicate with business users, technical teams, and senior leadership
Able to work fully onsite in Kuala Lumpur
Malaysian citizens or holders of valid Malaysian work authorisation. No sponsorship is provided.
Proficiency in both English and Mandarin
Experience in insurance, banking, or another regulated enterprise environment
Exposure to AI-assisted document workflows, model comparison, or handwriting recognition
Experience working within a controlled change and approval environment
Fully onsite, five days a week. Work from home is not standard.
After-hours support is required. Production deployments typically begin around 12:00am. Time off or a later start is arranged following night work.
Weekend availability is required during monthly security patching windows.
Participation in the annual disaster recovery exercise is mandatory.
Infrastructure changes are executed through a formal ticketing and approval process. Direct hands-on setup is restricted by compliance policy.
No company car or parking is provided.
