Job summary

E Charis Consult in Johor Bahru seeks an experienced Civil Infra Draftsperson (intermediate and senior) to translate designs into precise drawings for roads, bridges, drainage and utilities. Based in Taman Johor Jaya, you will prepare construction documentation guiding infrastructure projects.

Collaborate with engineers, ensure compliance with Malaysian codes (UBBL and public works specs), mentor junior staff, and support tender packages as needed.

Qualifications

• Required: Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or related drafting field.
• 3–5 years drafting experience for intermediate level or 6+ years for senior level.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit and 3D modelling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical drawings and construction documentation for civil infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, drainage, utilities).
• Create plans, sections, elevations and specs meeting standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to translate design intent into documentation.
• Review and revise drawings based on feedback from teams and clients.
• Maintain drawing standards and naming conventions across projects.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compatibility between disciplines.
• Maintain version control and revision history of drawings.
• Mentor junior drafters and support senior staff.
• Assist in preparing tender documents and design packages as required.

Civil Infra Draftsperson / Architecture Draftsperson (Intermediate and Senior)

About the role

E Charis Consult is seeking an experienced Civil Infra Draftsperson at intermediate and senior levels to join our growing engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Taman Johor Jaya, Johor. As a Civil Infra Draftsperson, you will play a critical role in translating engineering designs and concepts into precise technical drawings that guide construction and infrastructure projects. This position is essential to our project delivery process, ensuring that all civil infrastructure designs are accurately documented and ready for implementation by construction teams and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive technical drawings and construction documentation for civil infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, drainage systems and utilities.
• Utilise CAD software and drafting tools to create detailed plans, sections, elevations and specifications that meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to understand design intent and translate it into accurate technical documentation.
• Review and revise drawings based on feedback from design teams, contractors and clients to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain consistency in drawing standards, conventions and naming protocols across all project documentation.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compatibility between civil, structural, mechanical and other engineering disciplines.
• Update and manage drawing revisions, maintaining clear version control and documentation history.
• Support senior drafters and engineers by mentoring junior team members and sharing technical expertise (for senior-level positions).
• Assist in preparing tender documents, project specifications and detailed design packages as required.
• Ensure all drawings comply with relevant Malaysian codes, standards and regulatory requirements for infrastructure projects.

What we’re looking for

• Certificate, Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Drafting or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional drafting experience in civil infrastructure projects (intermediate level) or 6+ years (senior level).
• Advanced proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD, with demonstrated expertise in 2D and 3D modelling.
• Strong knowledge of civil infrastructure drawing standards, conventions and practices relevant to Malaysian projects.
• Solid understanding of civil engineering principles, including structural design, drainage design, road design and site planning.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality technical documentation.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) software such as Revit or other relevant tools (preferred).
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications and project management systems.
• Knowledge of relevant Malaysian standards and regulations including Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL) and public works specifications (preferred).
• For senior-level applicants: demonstrated experience in leading junior drafting staff, managing large-scale projects and contributing to design development processes.
