Job summary

Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang, part of Shangri-La Group, seeks a Chief Engineer for the Penang cluster. This leader will oversee engineering operations across Shangri-La Rasa Sayang and Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang, ensuring safe, reliable facilities and services.

The role requires mechanical/electrical qualifications, multi-lac multilingual communication, and 2+ years in hotel engineering with strong leadership. Extensive facilities management experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification required.
• Good command of English, Malay and Chinese.
• Mininum 2 years working experience, preferably in the Hotel Industry.
• Leadership and interpersonal skills essential.
• Knowledge of facility management, fire safety, fixtures and equipment, and in-house projects.

Responsibilities

• General administration of the Engineering Dept, including maintenance and repair of buildings, fixtures, fittings and equipment; oversee technical improvements and utilities control.
• Monitor and maintain all equipment to ensure smooth operations.
• Support budget planning and expenditure control for maintenance and engineering projects.
• Ensure facilities comply with local regulations and internal standards via audits and corrective actions.
• Coordinate crisis management and emergency response activities to mitigate risks.
• Develop and deliver training on emergency procedures to enhance team readiness and compliance.
• Apply EH&S and Loss Prevention principles to uphold workplace safety and regulatory compliance.

Chief Engineer, RSR & GSH

• This is a Clustered postion for Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang & Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang.
• Responsible for the general administration of the Engineering Dept, including proper maintenance and repair of all buildings, fixtures, fittings and equipment as well as technical improvements, preventive maintenance and utilities consumption control.
• Monitor and maintain all equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning
• Support budget planning and expenditure control for maintenance and engineering projects to optimize resource allocation
• Ensure all facilities comply with local regulations and internal standards by conducting regular audits and implementing corrective actions
• Coordinate and participate in crisis management and emergency response activities to mitigate risks and ensure swift resolution
• Develop and deliver training programs related to emergency procedures to enhance team readiness and compliance
• Apply expertise in Environment Health, Occupational Health and Safety Assessment, and Loss Prevention to uphold workplace safety and regulatory compliance.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

• Holder of relevant Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Good command of English, Malay and Chinese.
• Mininum 2 years working experience, preferably in the Hotel Industry.
• Has a great Leadership & Interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of facility management, fire safety, furniture, fixtures & equipment, able to handle in-house projects.
