Job summary

Penang Hill Corporation is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to oversee electrical systems and related infrastructure at our Penang location. You will perform inspections, diagnostics, and planned maintenance on firefighting, air-conditioning, PA, and CCTV systems, while ensuring compliance with energy regulations.

The role requires a valid electrical/electronic certificate, 2+ years in the field, and the ability to read Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Qualifications

• Malaysian citizen aged 21 years or older.
• Possess at least a Certificate in Electrical / Electronic or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.
• Read and write in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Responsibilities

• Manage electrical equipment to ensure reliable operation and safety.
• Conduct periodic inspections and testing of firefighting, HVAC, PA, and CCTV systems.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulators and utility bodies on compliance issues.
• Maintain logs for checks as required by energy commission.
• Troubleshoot basic electrical issues and address minor plumbing problems.
• Operate genset, LV switchboard, and maintenance services.
• Schedule annual ACB and switchboard servicing.
• Calibrate protection relays and related equipment.
• Communicate results clearly after repairs and updates to supervisors.

Job description

• SALARY SCHEME : Based on salary scheme for the Grade J1/J2

WORK DESCRIPTION:

• To manage electrical equipment to ensure all is in good condition;
• To conduct periodic schedule inspections and testing of the functioning of the firefighting system, air-conditional system, PA System, and CCTV System;
• To conduct periodic scheduled preventive & predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance to prevent or minimize equipment breakdown and power failure;
• To liaise with TNB, DOSH, SYABAS, JKKP, BOMBA, PBA, and other regulatory bodies on utilities and compliance issues;
• To record and maintain a proper log book for all checking following the requirements of the energy commission;
• To troubleshoot basic electrical failure and fix basic plumber problems;
• Taking charge of Genset operation, LV switchboard, and maintenance service;
• Maintenance work for yearly ACB and switchboard servicing;
• Yearly calibration for the protection relay and others;
• Able to communicate and inform the status of the result after repair;
• Able to follow all instructions of supervisors and superiors at all times; and
• Perform other tasks instructed by supervisors from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Malaysian Citizen, 21 years old and above;
• Candidate must possess at least a Certificate in Electrical / Electronic or equivalent;
• Must have at least 2 Years of working experience in the related field required for this position;
• Willing and able to work overtime when required;
• Able to read and write in Bahasa Malaysia and English;
• Physically fit;
• Able to work as part of a team; and
• Able to work in shifts and odd hours.
