Qualifications

• Knowledge of high-voltage switchgear and distribution equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety standards.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and technical docs.
• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving under pressure.
• Ability to supervise junior staff and maintain maintenance records.
• Driving license is advantageous.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chargeman BO 11kV to join UDA Facility Management on a contract basis. This is a pivotal position within our electrical engineering operations, based in Ipoh, Perak. As Chargeman BO 11kV, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of 11kV electrical systems. This role is essential to ensuring the reliable delivery of electrical services and maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance across our facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the operation and maintenance of 11kV switchboard equipment and distribution systems
• Monitor electrical systems to ensure safe and efficient operation in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards
• Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on 11kV electrical infrastructure
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and implement corrective measures promptly
• Prepare and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, incidents, and system performance
• Liaise with operations teams and external contractors to coordinate electrical work and ensure project deadlines are met
• Ensure all electrical work complies with safety regulations, codes of practice, and company policies
• Respond to electrical emergencies and implement emergency procedures to minimise disruption and ensure safety
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior electrical technicians and maintenance staff
• Conduct safety briefings and ensure all team members adhere to electrical safety protocols

What we are looking for

• A recognized qualification in electrical engineering or equivalent technical certification (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent)
• Proven experience as a Chargeman or senior technician managing 11kV electrical systems
• In-depth knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems, switchgear, and distribution equipment
• Strong understanding of electrical safety standards, regulations, and best practices
• Competency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure
• Strong communication and leadership capabilities to supervise and mentor junior staffProficiency in maintaining accurate maintenance records and technical documentation
• A valid driving licensed is advantageous for site visits and coordination responsibilities
• Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry standards
