Job summary

KPJ Healthcare Berhad is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Payment associate for our hospital operations in Malaysia. You will handle inpatient and outpatient payments, issue receipts, and ensure billing accuracy while upholding service standards.

The role requires basic hospital administration experience, familiarity with cash, card, and cheque transactions, and the ability to maintain clear communication with patients. Strong accuracy and compliance with ISO quality policies are valued.

Responsibilities

  • Receive payment made by self-paying patients via cash, credit card and cheque.
  • Issue receipt for every payment received.
  • Refund money to patients where applicable upon approved refund voucher.
  • Reconcile total cash, credit card and cheque collection with close till listing on shift basis and highlight discrepancies.
  • Print summary receipt listing transactions when till is closed.
  • Sign envelopes with witness before placing into safety box and ensure counter checking.
  • Maintain good communication with patients and ensure issues are well explained.
  • Generate and finalize billing for outpatient and inpatient patients

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Patient Payment is responsible for managing all inpatient and outpatient payment collections efficiently, accurately, and professionally. The role involves handling patient financial transactions, issuing receipts, preparing billing documentation, processing refunds, reconciling daily collections, and ensuring compliance with hospital financial policies and healthcare quality standards. The position serves as a frontline representative of the hospital and plays an important role in delivering excellent customer service while maintaining financial integrity and operational accuracy.


JOB DESCRIPTION


  • 1.Receive payment made by self-paying patients via cash, credit card and cheque.

  • 2.Issue receipt for every payment received.

  • 3.Refund money to patients where applicable upon approved refund voucher.

  • 1.To carry out other relevant duties as an employee as stipulated in Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and Regulations:


    • a.To take reasonable care at work for the safety of yourself and other persons.

    • c.To wear or use any protective equipment or clothing provided by the employer.

    • d.To comply with any instruction or measure or Measure on Occupational Safety and Health (OHS).


  • 2.Involvement in determining actions to address risk associated with threats and opportunities for hospital eg HIRARC; Other OHS Risks & Other OHS Opportunities; EAI; Risk Register (Business Risk & Business Opportunities); Environmental Risk & Environmental Opportunities; the needs & expectations of interested parties, internal & external Issues.

  • 3.Ensure all policies and procedures of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and MSQH Hospital Accreditation Standard are adhered to and records maintained, if and when these programs are implemented.

  • 4.Participate in 5S / QE activities.

  • 5.To maintain proper housekeeping in the services / ward.

  • 6.Ensure the policies on patient and family rights are addressed at all times.

  • 7.Ensure compliance to Patient Safety Goals as safety improvement measures which have adopted by Tawakkal Specialist Hospital.

  • 8.To maintain proper Hand Hygiene at workplace.

  • 9. Ensure adherence to The KPJ Way / Standard People Practice (SPP).

  • 10.Involvement in Risk Management exercise inclusive of Incident Reporting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

  • 11.To participate and to support all activities pertain to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 including the commitment to comply with legal requirements.

  • 12.Involvement in Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) exercise inclusive of training, awareness and documentation.

  • 13.Perform duties as instructed by superior or management.


JOB REQUIREMENT

Education: Minimum secondary education or equivalent qualification.


Knowledge and Experiences:


  • 1.Experience in hospital admission, customer service, or front‑line administrative work.

  • 2.Basic understanding of hospital admission processes, insurance claims, and billing workflows.


Skills & Competencies:
