Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.
Notify the nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.
Obtain unit report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.
Daily routine: Perform thorough cleaning each morning, including sanitizing trolleys, lamps, and walls to ensure hygiene and safety.
Prepare and inspect the camera system, endoscope, monitoring system, oxygen and suction apparatus to ensure proper functioning and readiness for procedures.
Prepare and tidy stretcher, bed and linens as needed.
Receive patients from the ward or clinic, transport the patient to the preparation area, and assist the patient until they are checked by the registered nurse.
Wheel patients to the procedure room and position the patient on left lateral position, knee bent towards the chest for comfort and stabilization of the patient.
Hold the bite block and ensure the patient’s head alignment and chin posture are correctly maintained.
Position the patient in a recumbent position with the head elevated at a 45‑degree angle for bronchoscopy procedures and place a protective pad on the patient’s chest to guard against contamination from discharges and water.
Wheel the patient to the recovery room and assist in their comfort.
Assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families.
Perform cleaning on the floors, stretchers, walls, and lamps, and disinfect the equipment after use.
Conduct weekly cleaning of the entire unit to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Keep the unit, store, fridge and its facilities clean and tidy.
Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations.
Answer phone calls and relay messages.
Attend to patients call the bell promptly.
Send out portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
Assist nurses in transporting patients to the ward if needed.
Assist the trained staff in various aspects: carry out nursing care such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc.
Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly.
Records the daily charges for the items used in the unit and updates the patients’ charges accordingly.
Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely and comfortably using the correct body mechanics.
Accompanies the consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses.
Attend meetings held by the service.
