Job description

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.
• Notify the nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.
• Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Deputy Unit Manager.
• Daily routine: Conduct regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families. Prepare and tidy patients’ beds and linens as needed and organize patients’ belongings as well as furniture. Disinfect beds, furniture, and equipment after use. Keep ward, store, fridge, and its facilities clean and tidy. Assist patients with activities of daily living. Answer phone calls and relay messages. Attend patient bell calls promptly. Assist nurses in transporting patients to and from the operating theatre. Escort patients to other services for diagnostic tests and from the ward to other areas upon discharge. Dispatch specimens to the laboratory and collect results. Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations. Send out portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
• Assist the trained staff in various aspects: carry out nursing care such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc. Clean and disinfect the trolley and instruments after use and store them properly. Record daily charges for the items used in the ward and update the patients’ charges accordingly. Maintain record of intake and output chart for each patient. Lift, turn, and position patients safely. Accompany consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses.
