Job Responsibilities
- Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.
- Notify the nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.
- Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.
- Daily routine:
- Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients' needs and communicate with them and their families.
- Prepares and tidies patients' beds and linens as needed and organizes patients' belongings as well as furniture.
- Disinfects the beds, furniture, and equipment after utilizing them.
- Keeps the ward, store, fridge, and its facilities clean and tidy.
- Assist the patient with Activities of Daily Living.
- Answer phone calls and relay messages.
- Attendants to patients call the bell promptly.
- Assists nurses in transporting patients to and from the operating theatre.
- Escorts patients to other services for diagnostic tests and from the ward to other areas upon discharge.
- Dispatches specimens to the laboratory and collects results.
- Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations.
- Send out portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
- Assists the trained staff in various aspects:
- Carried out of nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc.
- Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly. Records the daily charges for the items used in the ward and updates the patients' charges accordingly.
- Maintains the record of intake and output chart for each patient.
- Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely.
- Accompanies the consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses.
- Attend meetings held by the service.
Job Requirement
Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia - Certified healthcare assistants would be a priority.
