KPJ Healthcare Berhad's Penang unit is seeking a dedicated healthcare assistant to support nursing services. The role focuses on providing basic nursing care aligned with the hospital's vision, and to assist with daily ward operations.

You will participate in rounds, maintain clean wards, assist with ADLs, and relay messages to nursing staff. The position emphasizes patient safety, cleanliness, and collaboration with senior nurses and physicians.

Qualifikationen

• Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia - Certified healthcare assistants would be a priority.

Aufgaben

• Provide basic nursing care aligned with the hospital's vision, mission, philosophy, goals and objectives.
• Notify nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.
• Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.
• Conduct regular nursing rounds to assess patients' needs and communicate with them and their families.
• Prepare and tidy patients' beds and linens and organize patients' belongings and furniture.
• Disinfect beds, furniture and equipment after use; keep ward, store, and fridge clean.
• Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living.
• Answer phone calls and relay messages; attend to patients' calls promptly.
• Assist nurses in transporting patients to/from the operating theatre; escort to diagnostic services and discharge areas.
• Dispatch specimens to laboratory and collect results; manage stock from pharmacy/store; arrange oxygen refills for emergencies.
• Assist trained staff in patient care activities including comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admissions, transfers, discharges, dressing, IVs, catheterization, etc.
• Clean and disinfect trolley/instruments and record daily ward charges; maintain intake/output charts and patient positioning.
• Attend meetings held by the service.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.
2. Notify the nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.
3. Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.
4. Daily routine:
   • Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients' needs and communicate with them and their families.
   • Prepares and tidies patients' beds and linens as needed and organizes patients' belongings as well as furniture.
   • Disinfects the beds, furniture, and equipment after utilizing them.
   • Keeps the ward, store, fridge, and its facilities clean and tidy.
   • Assist the patient with Activities of Daily Living.
   • Answer phone calls and relay messages.
   • Attendants to patients call the bell promptly.
   • Assists nurses in transporting patients to and from the operating theatre.
   • Escorts patients to other services for diagnostic tests and from the ward to other areas upon discharge.
   • Dispatches specimens to the laboratory and collects results.
   • Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations.
   • Send out portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
5. Assists the trained staff in various aspects:
   • Carried out of nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc.
   • Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly. Records the daily charges for the items used in the ward and updates the patients' charges accordingly.
   • Maintains the record of intake and output chart for each patient.
   • Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely.
   • Accompanies the consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses.
6. Attend meetings held by the service.
