DAMANSARA SPECIALIST HOSPITAL 2 in Petaling Jaya is looking for a nursing staff member to provide basic nursing care following established standards. Your work will involve direct patient care, collaborating with team members, and ensuring high-quality patient services.
The ideal candidate must have Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia and strong interpersonal skills, with preference given to certified healthcare assistants. You will maintain patient safety standards and assist in various patient care activities.
Provide basic nursing care in accordance with established standards, work collaboratively with team members, and report any incidents or issues to relevant authorities to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.
Notify nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.
Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.
Conduct regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families.
Prepare and tidy patients’ beds and linens as needed and organize patients’ belongings as well as furniture.
Disinfect beds, furniture, and equipment after use.
Keep the ward, store, fridge, and its facilities clean and tidy.
Assist patients with activities of daily living.
Answer phone calls and relay messages.
Attend to patients’ call bell promptly.
Assist nurses in transporting patients to and from the operating theatre.
Escort patients to other services for diagnostic tests and from the ward to other areas upon discharge.
Dispatch specimens to the laboratory and collect results.
Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations.
Send out portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
Assist the trained staff in various aspects: carry out nursing care such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc.
Clean and disinfect the trolley and instruments after use and store them properly.
Record the daily charges for items used in the ward and update patients’ charges accordingly.
Maintain records of intake and output charts for each patient.
Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely.
Accompany consultants in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses.
Attend meetings held by the service.
Proactive in own learning and development to meet the minimum requirement of 20 hours of continuous education per year.
Involve in orienting new staff members to the ward routines.
Maintain records of personal leave and training attendance.
Adhere to the hospital’s policies and nursing code of conduct, ensuring patient confidentiality and standard infection control practices are upheld.
Assist the trained staff in managing proper storage, condition, and availability of biomedical equipment in the unit, maintaining sufficient ward stock, and ensuring accurate records for equipment, medical supplies, consumable items, and specimen collections.
Participate in new services, comply with 5S activities, patient safety policies, and adhere to ISO, MSQH, JCI, PSG, BFHI, and NNA standards to ensure compliance with patient safety goals and occupational safety measures.
Adhere to the Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations 1994 by taking reasonable care at work, cooperating with employers, wearing proper PPE, and following all safety and health instructions and measures.
