I-Call International is expanding its interpreter team and is currently seeking qualified Medical Consecutive Interpreters who are fluent in English and Cantonese.
Role Overview
As a Medical Consecutive Interpreter, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate clear, accurate, and professional communication between healthcare providers and patients with limited English proficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Interpretation
- Accurately interpret medical conversations, including diagnoses, symptoms, treatments, and procedures between patients and healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, and clinical staff).
Cultural Mediation
- Assist patients in understanding healthcare processes and help providers navigate cultural nuances that may impact patient care.
Confidentiality & Ethics
- Strictly maintain patient confidentiality and comply with professional medical interpretation ethics and standards.
Documentation
- Record interpretation details such as date, time, duration, and type of service provided.
Professional Development
- Stay up to date with medical terminology, healthcare practices, and interpretation standards to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications
- Fluency in English and Cantonese
- Previous experience in medical interpretation or translation is preferred
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare environments
- Excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in real-time medical settings
