Job summary

Xiamen University Malaysia – Sepang, Selangor invites a network professional to oversee the daily monitoring, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of campus wired and wireless networks. You will manage firewall policies and VPNs to ensure secure access for faculty and students.

The role covers network management systems like Zabbix, Nagios, and SolarWinds, with security incident handling, MLPS compliance, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Communications or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in managing large or medium-sized network operations.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP protocols and networking technologies including OSPF/BGP, VLAN, STP.
• Hands-on config/management with Huawei, H3C, Cisco, Aruba equipment; relevant vendor certifications preferred.
• Familiar with firewalls (Sangfor, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Hillstone) and VPN configurations.
• Experience with network monitoring/management systems and security incident handling.
• Basic scripting or automation knowledge (Python, Ansible).
• English and Mandarin skills are an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Daily monitoring, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of campus wired/wireless networks.
• Manage campus perimeter and internal firewall policies for network access security.
• Configure and maintain SSL/IPsec VPNs for secure remote access for faculty and students.
• Operate network management systems (Zabbix, Nagios, SolarWinds) and IPAM; generate performance reports.
• Implement security policies, run vulnerability scans, and assist in MLPS compliance tasks.
• Provide Tier-2 support; develop topology diagrams, SOPs, and collaborate with vendors.
