Job summary

Curtin University Malaysia is seeking an Assistant Manager, Infrastructure & Projects to lead campus infrastructure and capital projects from planning through handover. You will coordinate engineers, consultants and authorities, manage budgets, and ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance across multiple initiatives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and at least three years of relevant experience in complex building or institutional projects, with strong design

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in civil/infrastructure engineering, construction or PM.
• Experience in managing building infrastructure or construction projects incl. site supervision, inspection and close-out.
• Experience coordinating engineering drawings, specs, schedules, cost estimates and tender docs.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and project planning software (MS Project or equivalent).
• Experience with tendering, contractor selection and contract administration.
• Experience liaising with government/statutory authorities for approvals.
• Knowledge of Malaysia building, planning, fire safety and occupational safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage campus infrastructure and capital projects from concept to handover within scope, budget, schedule and quality.
• Provide regular project status reports on progress, expenditure, risks, issues, variations and decisions.
• Support prioritisation of the project portfolio in line with University plans and budgets.
• Act as project lead for assigned infrastructure and capital projects.
• Prepare and coordinate engineering drawings, layouts, specs, schedules, BOQs and cost estimates using AutoCAD and other tools.
• Coordinate with external consultants to ensure designs are complete and fit-for-purpose.
• Coordinate with authorities for building, infrastructure and project approvals.
• Prepare tender documentation and participate in tendering, evaluation and contractor selection.
• Manage consultants, contractors and suppliers to deliver works per drawings, specs, contracts and safety standards.
• Monitor performance including scope, programme, cost, quality, risks and variations; escalate as needed.
• Conduct site inspections, quality control checks, testing, commissioning and close-out.
• Maintain accurate project records and handover documentation.
• Support development of business cases and capital submissions with technical input and risk assessments.
• Provide engineering and PM support for accessibility and infrastructure improvements, ensuring minimal disruption.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify requirements and deliver compliant project outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian legislation and University standards.
• Contribute to process and standard improvements in project delivery and asset handover.
