Job summary

TAK Group of Companies in Malaysia seeks a skilled CAD Draughtsman to join our multidisciplinary design team. You will prepare architectural drawings, detailed construction documents, and coordinate with structural, MEP, and consultants to ensure design intent is realized.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in architectural/interior design, proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp, and familiarity with Revit. BIM experience is a plus, and strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in CAD drafting for architectural/interior design
• Experience with large-scale developments (airports, stadiums, hospitals, hotels) is a plus
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp; familiarity with Revit and 3D modeling software is advantageous

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CAD Draughtsman to join our multidisciplinary design team. The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in the preparation and coordination of technical drawings and detailed construction documentation. This role demands precision, deep technical knowledge, and the ability to contribute effectively to large-scale, complex developments including airports, deep seaports, stadiums, convention centres, hospitals, universities, hotels, and high-rise buildings.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare high-quality technical drawings, architectural layouts, and detailed construction documents with accuracy and adherence to design intent.

Assist design teams in developing drawing packages from concept through to construction stages.

Coordinate and incorporate structural, MEP, and specialist consultants’ drawings into architectural sets.

Contribute to master planning and large-scale developments by preparing planning layouts, zoning diagrams, and site coordination plans.

Ensure all drawings comply with relevant local building codes, BOMBA (fire safety regulations), and planning authority requirements.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and planners to resolve design and coordination issues.

Maintain up-to-date drawing archives and follow internal drawing standards and documentation protocols.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience as a CAD Draughtsman, Draftsperson, or related role within architectural, interior design, engineering or multi-disciplinary firms.

Demonstrated experience in large-scale projects such as airports, stadiums, convention centres, hospitals, universities, hotels, and skyscrapers.

Excellent proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp; familiarity with Revit and other 3D modeling software is advantageous.

Strong understanding of technical detailing, buildability, and construction methodologies.

In-depth knowledge of local statutory requirements, building regulations, fire safety (BOMBA) codes, and planning guidelines.

Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Architectural, Interior Design, Engineering, Drafting, or related field.

Experience working in a BIM environment is a plus.

Familiarity with international codes (e.g., IBC, NFPA) is advantageous but not required.
