Job summary

Contacthings in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Project Buyer to source, purchase, and coordinate materials, components, and services for engineering and automation projects in the semiconductor sector.

You will manage supplier selection, request quotations, issue POs, monitor delivery, and ensure on-time, on-budget procurement while maintaining quality standards. The role collaborates with engineering teams, maintains vendor records, negotiates pricing, and drives cost reductions.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing, automation, or engineering.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure materials, components, and services based on project requirements.
• Request quotations, compare pricing, and negotiate with local and overseas suppliers.
• Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and monitor delivery schedules to ensure on-time project execution.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Project Teams on BOM requirements and material planning.
• Follow up with suppliers on delivery status, quality issues, and order fulfillment.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier database, and procurement documentation.
• Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and reliable supply.
• Support cost reduction initiatives and identify alternative sourcing opportunities.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Management.

We are looking for Project Buyer who is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating materials, components, and services required for project execution. The role ensures timely procurement, cost optimization, supplier management, and on-time material delivery to support engineering, automation, and customer projects while maintaining quality and budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities
