Job summary

Precision Control Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks an experienced high-voltage technician to safely perform and supervise 33kV switching operations, isolation, and earthing in line with SOPs and safety protocols. You will coordinate with the Testing & Commissioning team to execute switching sequences for new equipment energization and system integration, and ensure all work complies with ST regulations.

This role also oversees maintenance of switchgear and UPS/gensets, manages Permit-to-Work processes,

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years hands-on experience in 33kV high voltage switching operations.
• Experience in a Data Center, semiconductor plant, critical facility, or similar 24/7 mission-critical environment is highly preferred.
• Must possess a valid Chargeman BO (33kV) competency certificate issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), Malaysia.
• Strong knowledge of HV protection systems, interlocking logic, and emergency power systems.

Responsibilities

• HV Switching & Operations: safely perform and supervise 33kV switching operations, isolation, and earthing per SOPs and safety protocols.
• Testing & Commissioning Coordination: liaise with T&C team to coordinate and oversee high-voltage switching sequences for energization and system integration.
• Statutory Compliance: act as the registered competent person under ST regulations to ensure compliance with Electricity Supply Act and Grid Code.
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting: oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on 33kV switchgear, transformers, protection relays, UPS, and standby generators.
• Permit-to-Work (PTW): issue, manage, and log PTW for internal teams and external T&C contractors.
• Operations Support: willing to work on rotation shifts and support on-call duties for HV emergencies.

Job description

HV Switching & Operations: Safely perform and supervise 33kV high-voltage switching operations, isolation, and earthing works according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.

Testing & Commissioning Coordination: Liaise directly with the Testing & Commissioning (T&C) team to coordinate, execute, and oversee all high-voltage switching sequences required for newly installed equipment, energization, and system integration.

Statutory Compliance: Act as the registered competent person under Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) regulations, ensuring all high-voltage equipment complies with Electricity Supply Act and Grid Code guidelines.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Oversee and carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical 33kV switchgear, transformers, protection relays, UPS systems, and emergency standby generators.

Permit-to-Work (PTW): Issue, manage, and log Permit-to-Work systems for internal teams and external T&C contractors conducting third-party servicing, testing, or commissioning on HV equipment.

Operations Support: Willingness to work on rotation shift schedule and support on call-duties for high voltage emergency

What we're looking for

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in 33kV High Voltage switching operations.

Prior working experience in a Data Center, semiconductor plant, critical facility, or similar 24/7 mission-critical environment is highly preferred.

Technical Knowledge: Strong familiarity with High Voltage protection systems, interlocking logic, emergency power systems (Generators/UPS), and Building Management Systems (BMS) / EPMS.

Shift Flexibility: Willingness to work on rotating shift schedules (if required) or be on-call 24/7 to handle emergency breakdowns and immediate response situations.

Certification: Must possess a valid Chargeman BO (33kV) competency certificate issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), Malaysia.
